A Shaker Card

Hello Everyone!

I hope everyone had a great beginning to a new week.  I did not have as much time to play as I had hoped.  I spent the day working on one of my tutorials for the upcoming Sending Kisses.  I did get a chance to use one of my coloring pages I created for the coloring challenge.  I used it in the card for today.

Today is day 28 of the Coloring Challenge.

Today I decided to use an idea from my Perfect Pearls online class.  In the class we used glitter gel and added perfect pearls to it.  I pulled out a stencil and I added some gold perfect pearls to it.  I spread it on my paper and then removed my stencil.  I did not like the look so I decided to add some perfect pearls on top.  I sprinkled it on and then used a brush to smoosh it in.  I am not happy with the way it turned out.  I think it should have been a lighter color perfect pearls.  Oh well that is what this challenge is all about - coloring with different tools and playing.  Here is today's coloring.

Ok, now for today's card.  I saw a great card on Kristina Werner's blog.  I decided to use the Corner Garden stamp set to create my version of her card.  I colored it on a previous day so today I went back to it and sponged in some color on the background.  In retrospect I think it would have looked better if I had used a light blue but that is okay as this is a learning curve.  I then just had to put my card together as a shaker card.  Here is my finished card.

Now I have to ask for some advice.  I love making shaker cards.  My problem is the static I get on my window sheets that causes my pieces to stick to it.  Does anyone have any suggestions?  I would love to make shaker cards where my pieces do not stick!

Thanks for visiting me today.  Today I am going to check out a site for a Creative Escape.  I am hoping we get some good news about it.  Have a Terrific Tuesday!

Technostamper Monday - Hello

Good Morning Ladies!

Yesterday Zoie had a great day!  She had her birthday party.  Her actual birthday is today but since everyone has to work we did it yesterday.  She wanted rainbow cupcakes so she and Jess made them and decorated them.  They looked so cute.  Here are some pictures.

Now on to my coloring challenge for today.

Today I decided to use another stencil and spritz on some color.  My first attempt I spritzed it too much and the color bled under the stencil.  I tried again and the first time I did not have enough reinker in the spray.  I let it dry and added more reinker.  It turned out better.  Here is my coloring for today.

I decided to use my background for my card today.  Mary Jo at Technostamper  gave us a much easier sketch this week.

I chose to use a light color for the colored dots.  I then chose a darker coordinating color to stamp the image in.  Now I needed the bold sentiment so I pulled out my Hello You thinlets.  Here is what I created.

Now you need to check out the other creations at Technostamper  to see what the other ladies created.  We would love to have join us and show us what you would do with the sketch.

Thanks for visiting me today.  I am hoping to play today since I did not get a chance to play much this weekend.  Have a Marvelous Monday!

Step It Up Sunday - Amazing

Hello Stampers!

Well today we are having cupcakes for Zoie's birthday.  She wanted a rainbow theme so she wanted rainbow cupcakes.  She and Jess made them last night.  After she went to bed, Jess did some decorating.  I will post pictures tomorrow.

Today is Day 26 of the Coloring Challenge.  I can't believe there are only 4 more days left to the challenge.

challenge_graphic-4-650

I had an idea to use a stencil I had and spritz it with a dye.  I chose a really pale dye but then you couldn't tell I had done anything as it was so pale.  So I decided to use a micron pen and trace around the die.  When I took the die off the page, it still needed something.  I decided to use my markers and color the images on the die.  Here is what the final product looked like.

Yesterday I shared a simple card that I will use to step up today.  I began by adding a layer behind the stamped image.  I mounted this on an embossed layer that was added to the card base.  After I inked up the flower, used a marker to color the center so when I stamped it, the flower was 2 toned.  After I had stamped it on my card, I added rhinestones to the center.  Here is my finished card.

Thanks for visiting me today.  I finished my taxes today.  I have to pay the state so I will wait and file that one at the last minute.  :(  Have a Sensational Sunday!

Simple Saturday

Hello Everyone!

Well I got all my info entered into my spread sheet.  Now I will total and I can start on my forms.  I will do that later today.  Jess and Chris are celebrating Zoie's birthday this weekend so today they are taking her to an indoor bounce place.  Tomorrow we will have cupcakes and give her presents.  I cannot believe she is 4 years old.  Where did the time go?

In keeping with my coloring challenge for the 30 Days of Coloring I did another idea for a card.

challenge_graphic-4-650

I had an idea to use a set of medallions and stamp and emboss on white.  I was then going to paint on color using an aqua painter and reinkers.  I don't like how it turned out so I will need to come up with some ideas in order to be able to use it.  If you have any ideas please share.  Here is my image.

Now on to my card for today.  Simple Saturday is one of my favorite days to post.  I love creating a simple card.  Today I used the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches.

I decided to play with a set I have not used much - Painted Petals.  I love the elements in this set.  They lend themselves to creating very pretty cards.  I stamped the images of the 2 flowers to create a simple layout.  When I was finished, the card needed something so I added a sentiment.  Here is my simple card for today.

I have a lady coming today to make a Sheltering Tree picture.  I am looking forward to showing her some other ideas to use the set for.

Thanks for visiting me today.  I hope you have some fun plans for the weekend.  I will be sure to take and post pictures of Zoie's party.  Have a Super Saturday!

The Paper Plunge - Spotlighting

Happy Friday Stampers!

I had to work last evening for the college so I did not get to work on my taxes.  I will spend some time today again.  My goal is to get all my info into my spread sheet so I can begin filling out the forms.  I am hoping to be able to file my taxes this weekend.  Wish me luck!

Today is day 24 of the 30 day Color Challenge.

challenge_graphic-4-650

As I was working in my room, I ran across my Pure Color Pencils.  I decided to use them to color an image I had stamped.  Here is what I colored.

The challenge this week at The Paper Plunge is Spotlighting.  I have not played with this technique in quite a while.  I went looking through my catalog for an image that I could use.  I thought it would be fun to use the Regarding Dahlias flower.

I wanted to use a sketch challenge so I checked out my challenge blogs and ran across a sketch challenge at I Love Card Sketches.

ILCS21 - www.iLoveCardSketches.com

I stamped my image and then used a 1 1/4 inch circle punch to punch out a section of the flower.  I colored it and then mounted it on a 1 3/8 inch circle of black.  I used some In Color pattern pack ds paper to add a strip across the bottom.  I then just needed to add a sentiment.  Here is what I created.

You have to go to The Paper Plunge blog to see what the other ladies have created.  There is quite a bit of talent on this team so I am sure there are some awesome creations.  We would love to have you play along with us.

Thanks for visiting me today.  I will take a little time to play in between my taxes.  It will be my reward for working on them.  Have a Fabulous Friday!

Spring Lace

Hello Ladies!

Well I started on my taxes yesterday.  I was able to get all my info from my business entered in a spreadsheet for the first 6 months.  I am hoping to work on it some more this morning as I have to work this evening as the college is having an open house.

I managed a little bit of time to do some coloring.  I am trying to do some coloring each day for the Coloring Challenge.

challenge_graphic-4-650

I wanted to see if I could use one of my stencils and make a background.  I pulled out the stripes stencil and laid it at an angle on my card stock.  I then used my black and a dauber to apply the color.  Here is what it looked like.

As you can see the stencil was not a firm one so it slipped in a few places.  I will be strategically adding my image to hide those areas.

I needed to make my cards for my workshop next week.  My theme is April Showers.  The cards will be about showers you may get invited to as well as Spring and Mother's Day.  I saw this card online somewhere and loved it so I decided to CASE it and add my won touches.  Here is one of the cards my ladies will make.

Thanks for visiting me today.  I wish there were more hours in today as I have a lot to do.  I hope I get it all done.  Have a Great Day!

Coloring Down the Lines - monochromatic

Good Morning Ladies!

Well I did not get to work on my taxes yesterday.  I had lunch with a friend and it went longer than I thought.  It was good to catch up with her so it was worth it.  I had to make my cards for my workshop next week when I got home and clean my bathroom.  Needless to say I did not get to work on my taxes.  That is on the agenda for today so I will work on it in the late afternoon after I babysit Remi while Jess has a doctor's appointment.

I also needed to do my coloring for the Coloring Challenge.

challenge_graphic-4-650

We are quickly counting down the remaining days.  One idea I have been wanting to try is coloring some of the Irresistibly Yours specialty ds paper.  I needed to do it quickly so I began burnishing on the color but it was not fast enough.  I then moved to the brayer.  It was faster but I did not like the look of it.  So for my last piece I tried spritzing on the color and liked the look so much better.

My goal is to work this up for a class.

Today is our Coloring Down the Lines blog hop.  This week our colors were chosen by Sandy.

Stampin' Up color matches

With these colors I felt I needed to make a masculine card.  I was not certain which sets I had that were masculine other than the goose in the Wetlands set.  I was not in the mood to play with the goose so I had to look further.  I then remembered the fern in the Butterfly Basics and knew what I wanted to do.

I saw a card created by Michele Boyer at Paper Cuts that I wanted to try my version of.  It used the emboss resist technique.  I started by stamping my fern and embossing it.  I then started by burnishing on my color.  I added Chocolate Chip to the very edges at the bottom.  Then I added some Soft Suede at the bottom and more at the top.  This I added a small amount of Crumb Cake.  I ended by adding some Sahara Sand.  I think these colors blend well with the Very Vanilla card stock.  I then need to add some other elements as it seemed bare.  I pulled out my Chocolate Chip chevron ribbon and attached it to the bottom.  I gathered it using a brad base and topped the base with a candy dot.  Next I needed my sentiment so I pulled out my Regarding Dahlias set for the Hi.  I added it to the Label Bracket punch and put some brown thread behind it.  Here is what I came up with.

Are you ready to see what the other ladies on the hop created?  Hop on over to Amanda's blog - Our Crafty Playdate to see what she created.  I am sure she did an awesome job with these colors.

Thanks for visiting me today.  I am hoping to get to the yarn store this morning as I have to work tomorrow and cannot go over there.  Have a Wonderful Wednesday!

Hand Stamped Sentiments - Easter bow

Hello Stampers!

I had to quickly make my card and do my coloring for today.  I was gone almost all day yesterday so it had to be a quick task for the evening.

Today is day 22 of the coloring challenge.

challenge_graphic-4-650

I found another card I fell in love with and wanted to do my version of it.  In order to do that I needed some images.  I used my markers and Blendabilities to color up these images for the card.  Look for the card later here on my blog.

Now on to my card for today.  It is the Hand Stamped Sentiments challenge today.  This week is a sketch challenge.

I have to admit when I saw this I immediately thought of Mr. Potato Head.  Don't you see it too?  Well I knew I could not do Mr. Potato Head so I had to come up with something else.  With all the elements I knew it needed to be simple or it would not look right.  I decided to do an Easter sentiment and make it an Easter card.  I also knew the colors had to be limited so I used Island Indigo and Soft Sky.  Here is what I came up with.

With a complicated sketch like this you will have to check out what the other ladies created.  Head on over to the Hand Stamped Sentiments blog to check out the other creations.

Thanks for visiting me today.  I will be working on my taxes today.  Think of me as you get to play and I have to do the taxes.  Have a Terrific Tuesday!

An Easter Pocket card for the sketch challenge

Good Morning Everyone!

Well yesterday I had lots of fun playing in my craft room.  I made several cards for my blog, did my coloring challenge, and made the first card for next month's Sending Kisses.  I felt good about it.  Today I have a hair appointment and I need to also work on my taxes.  I have been putting it off but I need to get going on them.

Today I did some more coloring for the Color Challenge.

challenge_graphic-4-650

I saw an idea on Kristina Werner's blog and knew I wanted to try it using Stampin' Up supplies.  I need to have my image colored so I worked on that.  Here is the image I will use.

Now on to my design team card.  Today is Mary Jo's Technostamper sketch challenge.

I ran across a pocket card while surfing the internet.  When I saw Mary Jo's sketch I decided to flip it and make it a pocket card.  I decided to use the Easter set as I needed to add to my stash to sell.

I combined some different designer series papers and used the cute chick from For Peep's Sake as the image.  This would be so cute in pink and brown with a bunny!  Here is my creation.

Make sure you check out what the other ladies created.  There are some fabulous cards on the post at Mary Jo's Technostamper.

Thanks for visiting me today.  What will you be doing today?  I hope it is something fun.  Have a Marvelous Monday!
