Sketch Frenzy Friday - Let It Snow!

Happy Friday Everyone!

Are you all set for the weekend?  I am planning on spending it making cards for the blog.  I need to work ahead so you have some goodies to see when you come by.  December is really busy so if I can work ahead I can schedule my posts.

Over at Sketch Frenzy Friday Kim Innis gave us a great sketch this week.

I thought it would be fun to use a snowflake for the circle image.  I had one left from my play date with my friend so I decided to use it on this card.  I also wanted to use a dark color so I could use the Illuminate pad.  I decided to go with Elegant Eggplant.  Here is my creation.

I hope you will head on over to the Sketch Frenzy Friday blog to check out the other creations by the design team.  Hope you will play along with us this week.  Thanks for looking and have a Fabulous Friday!

Midnight Muse and Silver New Year's

Hello Ladies!

I love the new single stamps you can get.  They also have a few that are new.  I used one the other day and my card today uses another new one.  I wanted to do the color challenge at Dynamic Duos

I thought these colors would be great for a New Year's card to go along with the new stamp.  This is a simple card that I will use in my workshop next week.  Here is my creation.

This is such a fun stamp!  It makes a quick and easy card.  Hope it made you smile.  Thanks for looking and have a Great Day!

Coloring Down the Lines - Calypso Coral

Good Morning Stampers!

Well we have another Coloring Down the Lines blog hop for you today.  This week we had to choose from

Calypso Coral, Baja Breeze, Daffodil Delight

OR

Calypso Coral, Riding Hood Red, Basic Gray

I have to say neither of these color combos jumped out at me.  I decided to challenge myself and use the second color combo.  I went looking for a sketch challenge and ran across one at The Paper Players

I thought about using flowers to be able to use these colors but opted for another idea.  I went with the tall snowman as I felt I could use the colors better with it.  Here is my creation.

I hope my card brightened your day!  Now it is time to hop on over to Amanda's blog - Our Crafty Playdate to see what she what she did with the colors.  Thanks for stopping by today to take a peek.  Have a Wonderful Wednesday!

Hand Stamped Sentiments - Photo Inspiration

Good Morning Stampers!

This week at Hand Stamped Sentiments we have a photo challenge.

I was drawn the the sparkle and the circles that I decided to see what I could do with it.  When I looked at the photo I saw Daffodil Delight, Melon Mambo, Pacific Point, and Real Red so I used those colors.  I pulled out my glimmer paper and used my ink to dye it.  I then saw the shiny balls and thought about our glossy cardstock so I used my daubers and add some color and then punched out the circle.  Now that I had my balls I need more for the card so I used the tree from Lovely As A Tree to add the tall pine tree.  Here is my final creation.

I really had no idea where I was going with my punched circles but the card came together fairly well.  Hop on over to the Hand Stamped Sentiments blog to see what the other ladies created.  Then grab your supplies and play along with us.  Hope my card made you smile today.  Thanks for looking and have a Terrific Tuesday!

Late Night Stampers - Add Sparkle

Happy Monday Everyone!

Well I am back home and attempting to get my house decorated for Christmas.  I don't usually do too much now that it is just me.  When the girls were here I went all out with my decorating.  Now that it is just me I keep it more simple.  I have my trees up and just need to decorate them.  I hope to do that today.

This week at Late Night Stampers our challenge is to add sparkle.  We can use rhinestones, shimmer paint, or anything else that will add some twinkle to your card.  I needed another card for my workshop in December so I decided to use the single snowflake stamp - Bold Snowflake - that is one of the new single stamps we are selling right now.  This stamp coordinates with the Blossom punch so it was perfect for my card.  I stamped my snowflakes and added Iridescent Ice embossing powder.  I also spritzed the background with shimmer spray.  To finish it off I added some rhinestones to the center of the snowflakes.  Here is my creation.

I hope you enjoyed my card today.  I really like this snowflake.  I am glad we have a snowflake we can punch out again.  Thanks for looking and have a Marvelous Monday!

Another December Workshop card

Happy Sunday Ladies!

Well today is the day I head home.  I will be on the road with all the other thousands of people coming home after a great holiday with family and friends.  I hope I can get on the road early enough to miss most of the traffic.

My card today was inspired by last week's sketch from Sunny Challenges and Creations.

I liked the middle panel and when I put my panel together it turned out almost as large as my card so I moved the horizontal strip to the top.  Here is my card which will be another card for my December Workshop.

Hope you enjoyed seeing my workshop card.  Thanks for looking and have a Sensational Sunday!

First December Workshop card

Hello Stampers!

Well I am on my way to a craft show today.  I used to do this craft show several years ago but it has not worked out for a few years.  This year I asked Jess if she wanted to go and she was willing so we are going to check it out.  I hope it is as good as I remember.

My card today uses the sketch from Red Hot Stampers Sketch Challenge blog

When I saw this sketch I thought it would be perfect to use my workshop in December.  I even had an idea what set to use.  Here is the card my ladies will make next month based on this sketch.

I hope you enjoyed my workshop card today.  Thanks for looking and have a Super Saturday!

Sketch Frenzy Friday - Christmas Blessings

Good Morning!

Are you headed out for some of the Black Friday sales?  I am not sure if I am or not.  I have not done these sales in many years and not sure I want to brave the crowds.  If you do hope you are successful.

Our team at Sketch Frenzy Friday has another sketch challenge for you this week.  These sketches are so much fun and we would love to have you play along.  This week our sketch was designed by Jennifer Weide.

I liked the clean and simple design of this sketch so I went with a clean design for my card.  Here is what I created.

This would make a great card to mass produce.  Hope you will head on over to the Sketch Frenzy Friday blog to check out what the other ladies created.  Thanks for looking and have a Fabulous Friday!

Dynamic Duos snowman

Happy Thanksgiving!

This will be short and sweet as we all want to spend time with family and friends.  My card today uses the color challenge at Dynamic Duos

I loved this color combo.  They also had a snowman element to it.  This was right up my alley.  Here is what I created.

Coloring Down the Lines - Perfect Plum

Hello Everyone!

Are you all busy getting ready for tomorrow?  There is so much to get done before the big feast!  I hope you will take some time to check out our blog hop this week.

This week we had the following color choices

Perfect Plum, Marina Mist, Rose Red

OR

Perfect Plum, Riding Hood Red, More Mustard

I decided to use the second color combination.  For some reason those colors just appealed to me more.  I decided to move away from the holiday cards and create an all occasion card for a change.  I realized I had not used Fabulous Florets in a while so I decided to use it and the flourish from Everything Eleanor.  Here is what I created.

I hope you enjoyed my card today.  Now it is time to hop on over to Helen's blog - Blue Dahlia Designs to see what she did with these colors.  Thanks for looking and have a Wonderful Wednesday!

Hand Stamped Sentiments - Fancy Folds

Hello Everyone!

Well are you ready for Thanksgiving?  Can you believe it is 2 days away?  I am headed to Jess' today as I will be spending Thanksgiving at their house.  It will be great to see Zoie as I have not seen her in a while.  I am also 3 weeks away from the end of my courses so that will help as I will be able to visit more often.

At Hand Stamped Sentiments this week our challenge is all about Fancy Folds.

I love making fancy folds as they are so much fun to do.  The one in the photo gave me some ideas so I think I will play with that fold.

My challenge to myself was to make a card using a fold that I have never done before.  I went searching and found a tutorial for the double pocket card.  Now you may think that there isn't any folding with this but the actual card is made by folding a large piece of patterned paper.  When finish you have the card with the 2 pockets for your tags.  It is a lot easier than you think.  Here is my creation.

tags and envelope

To make the snowflakes on the envelope I use the die and cut out a stencil.  If you need some ideas for other fancy folds, head on over to the Hand Stamped Sentiments blog to see what my teammates created.  I know I will be checking it out as it will be fun to make other fancy folds.  Thanks for looking and have a Terrific Tuesday!

Late Night Stampers - favorite Color Combo for Christmas this year

Hello Ladies!

Before I share my card today I wanted to show you the process used to make my stuffed ham.  You begin by parboiling cabbage, onions, red pepper, and mustard seed until the cabbage is soft.  Take your ham and cut slits in it so you can stuff the cabbage mixture in the slits.

After you get your cabbage mixture stuffed in the slits and packed around the ham you tie it up in a large piece of unbleached muslin.  Then you put it in a big pot on the stove and bring it to a boil.  Turn the temperature down so it continues to soft boil.  You boil it for 4 - 5 hours depending on the size of your ham - I had a 22 1/2 pound ham so I cooked mine for 5 hours.

After it has cooked you need to hang it so the excess water can drain out.  I usually hand mine between 2 chairs using a sawed off tool handle.  It has to drain for about 4 hours.

Once you have drained it, you need to take the fabric off of the ham and place it on a platter.  After it cools in the refrigerator you can then slice it and eat it.

Now for those who don't really care about my stuffed ham.  Here is my card for today.

Do you have a favorite color combo that you like to use for Christmas?  This year we have some great colors with the new in-colors.

Our challenge this week is all about favorite color combos.  We were to create a project using our favorite Christmas Color Combo this year.  Several years ago I made a card using pink and green - at the time it was the old colors so mine was Mellow Moss and Pretty in Pink.  I have loved that color combination and have used a green and a pink for a Christmas sample each year.   This year I decided to use Pretty in Pink and pair it with Always Artichoke.  I love this color combination also.

I stamped my image on Very Vanilla as white would have been too harsh.  I used blender pens to color it in.  Love how you can get a soft color with the blender pens.  Here is my creation.

inside of card and envelope

I am so looking forward to eating some of this ham.  This is usually a traditional holiday recipe for the native countians in St. Mary's County.  Typically we do not serve it other than Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter.  It is great as a sandwich on Wonder White bread.

Thanks for looking and have a Marvelous Monday!

Star Tree on Artichoke

Happy Sunday!

What are your plans for the day?  As you read this I am cutting cabbage and onions and getting ready to stuff my ham.  Then I have to boil it for about 5 hours.  I will be busy all day with the preparation.  When it is done I will have to take a picture and post it as I know you are not familiar with what a stuffed ham is.

My card today was  for a challenge I had not participated in for quite some time.  When I saw the sketch it just spoke to me so I went with it.  Over at Try Stampin' On Tuesday they have a great sketch this week.

When I saw this I knew I had to give it a try.  I saw the main panel as a green with a tree.  I pulled out the Star Tree and embossed it with gold.  It is hard to see in the picture because of the angle I took the picture.  Here is my final creation.

I hope you enjoyed my card today.  Thanks for looking and have a Sensational Sunday!

Believe!

It's the weekend!

I have a lot to do this weekend.  I will be making my traditional Southern Maryland Stuffed Ham on Sunday.  This is a day long process but the end result is delicious.  I will be taking it up to Jess' for our Thanksgiving dinner.  My girls love this and we usually only have it on the holidays.

Today my card began with the sketch challenge at Red Hot Stampers Sketch Challenge

When I saw this sketch I was not certain what I was going to do.  I kinda played with it in my head and thought it would be fun to use some ds paper as the background and have a sentiment stamped on the diagonal strip.  With this idea I went looking at my catalog and the stamp sets with sentiments.  I wanted to do something that was not Christmas.  I ran across a sentiment that I thought make a great card.  I think you will be surprised with what I ended up with.  Here is my creation.

While I did not plan on a Christmas card, this one just fell together.  Hope you liked it.  Thanks for looking and have a Super Saturday!

It's Friday and that means it is time for another sketch challenge.  The Sketch Frenzy Friday blog has a weekly challenge.  This week Deb Currier gave us our sketch.

I wasn't certain what i was going to do with this one.  I thought I would try using the large doily.  I wanted to make a Christmas card, so I also pulled out my Christmas Blessings set.  Here is what I created.

Coloring Down the Lines - Marina Mist

Good Morning Ladies!

Well it turned cold on us and now I cannot get warm.  It will take me a while but I will eventually warm up.

Our Coloring Down the Lines Challenge today uses a color that I use a lot as I really like it.  I went for a simple card as time is of the essence for me lately.  Here is what I created.

inside of card and envelope

As you can see I made use of a few of my punches.  Love them, how about you?  So are you ready to hop on down the line and see what the other ladies created?  Head on over to Amanda's blog - Our Crafty Playdate - to see what she did with the colors.  Thanks for looking and have a Wonderful Wednesday!
