Hand Stamped Sentiments - gift ideas

Good Morning Stampers!

Before I share my card for today I wanted to share with you another sneak peek of the other project I created for the Stampin' Fun and Friends Sweet Spring session.  The fun begins on February 1 so if you have not signed up you still have time.  You will not be disappointed as these ladies are very talented.  Here is my second sneak peek.

I have to admit this challenge had me thinking.  I had no idea what I was going to do.  Then it hit me that I owed one of my retirement village ladies some of these as she gave away hers she made as gifts and needed some more.  I then knew what I was going to do.

These are really cute butterfly bookmarks.  They are easy to make also.  I used chipboard and attached my paper using one of our glue sticks.  When it was dry I used the butterfly die to cut out the 2 butterflies.  All I had to do then was use the crop-a-dile and punch my holes.  I threaded the ribbon through and tied a knot.  I v-cut the ends of the ribbon.  I added some dew drops with Crystal Effects and it was done.  Here is what 1 of them looked like.

Late Night Stampers - Black, white and another color

Happy Monday Everyone!

Well this week will have a lot of hype around the Super Bowl.  Are you a football fan?  I am but at this time have no preference at this point as to which team I want to win.  Need to see what the stations say about each team before I make my decision.

I wanted to share with you a sneak peek for one of my projects for the upcoming Stampin' Fun and Friends session Sweet Spring.  I had so much fun making this and can't wait to use it.  Make sure you have signed up so you do not miss out on the fun!  Here is a sneak peek for project 1 that I created.

 

Ok on to my card for today.  Today at Late Night Stampers our challenge is to use black, white and one other color.  I wasn't sure which color I was going to use but then decided on Tempting Turquoise.  I also decided to see if I could find a sketch I could use as I was pressed for time.  I found a great one at The Paper Players.     



I went looking for a set as I did not want to use a heart for my element.  I decided to use butterflies.  Here is my creation.

Our weather is supposed to be in the 60's the next few days.  It really makes me want to see some butterflies.  I also have daffodils coming up.  Anyone else have that?  Thanks for looking and have a Marvelous Monday!

Sunny Stampin Valentine challenge

Good Morning Stampers!

I hope you all are having a great weekend!  I am at Jess' and poor Zoie is sick.  She is stuffy like she has a cold, her stomach is upset, and she is miserable.  We are not sure if it is her teeth or if she really is sick.  She is still crawling around and is happy but then she will get cranky and need some loving.  I hope things settle down for her soon as she is not sleeping well at night which won't help her shake whatever she has.

My card today is one I made for our special swap group.  I wasn't sure what I was going to do for this one since it was a valentine theme.  I like how this one turned out.  It had some challenges with it but I was able to work it out.

It also fits the Valentine/Love challenge at Late Night Stampers.  

We also had a Valentine challenge at our Morning Chat Challenge that is hosted by Donna at Butternut Sage Designs so this card fits that challenge also.  I got a lot of mileage out of this one.  Here is my creation.

Red Hot Stampers Workshop card

Happy Saturday Ladies!

I am off to a craft show with my daughter today.  We have a few errands to run also but wanted to share a card I made earlier this week.

I used the sketch challenge at Red Hot Stampers   



Since I needed another card for my workshop I decided to use this sketch for one of the cards.  I flipped the sketch to get it to work for me.  Here is my creation.

Boy did I blow this one!

Happy Friday Everyone!

You are not going to believe this one.  I knew I was going to Jess' for the weekend so I worked  at the beginning of the week to make cards to have to post.  I usually post my cards the night before and have them go live at midnight.  I went to post my card for this week and for the life of me could not remember which one I had done.  Well when I opened the folder to get the sketch to embed it in my post I realized I had not made a card using this sketch.



I do not know how I missed making this card. I am so embarrassed and sorry I messed up.  Please make sure you play with us this week.  Now it is time to head on over to Sharon Wheet's blog to see what she did with the challenge.  I am sure she will have something gorgeous to look at unlike me!  :)

Awash with Flowers Cards and Things

Good Morning Stampers!

Got so busy last night forgot to schedule my post.  Remember this morning when I could not sleep so posting now.

I needed another card for my workshop so I went looking for some clean and simple sketches.  I found several sites that had suitable ones and my card today used one of the ones I found.  This card uses the sketch from Cards and Things

 


I decided to do some paper piecing on this one for a different technique to use in class.  I love the Sale-a-bration paper Everyday Enchantment so decided to use it for my pieced flower.  I also used some of the Calypso Coral baker's twine.  I picked up several colors that I don't have ribbon to match to I could at least add some type of ribbon to it.  I like the look on this card.  Here is my creation.

St. Patrick's Day Worskhop Card

Good Morning Stampers!

We had gorgeous weather yesterday and today is going to be just as nice.  We do have rain moving in this evening.  Not sure what the weather will be after the rain moves out.

My card today uses the clean and simple tag it challenge at The Paper Players .

I need cards for my workshop next week so I decided to use the rest of the week to make my cards I will use in the workshop.  The first card uses a new stamp in the Occasions mini.  I picked up the St. Patrick's day stamp and decided it would be perfect for the tag.  Here is what I created.

Well this challenge was a real challenge for me.  This week at Hand Stamped Sentiments is a beach inspiration.

  








I was not sure what I was going to do with this one.  I thought of using the front of the card and make a beach but I have done that before.  Then I thought about doing a sand pail.  I worked on this for quite some time and I think If I had gotten the angle of the rim better it would look more like a sand pail.  I can say this is not my best work but it did have a learning curve.

Late Night Stampers - Valentine/Love

Good Monday Morning Stampers!

Where did the weekend go?  All I know is that the Ravens blew it again this year.  This is the second year in a row they have choked  and not made it to the Super Bowl.  Oh well I guess we can be glad that they made it to the playoffs.


On to my card for this week.  Our challenge at Late Night Stampers this week was to create a card that had a Valentine or Love theme.  Since I was strapped for time I went for a quick and simple card.  Here is what I created.

SU Stars Blog Hop - Ebony and Ivory

Happy Saturday Ladies!

The SU Stars are having a blog hop this weekend.  It runs from Saturday through Sunday so I will not have a new post tomorrow to allow people time to do the blog hop.

Our theme for the hop is Ebony and Ivory.  We had to use one of the combinations below and could add a pop of color.

Basic Black and Very Vanilla
Basic Black and Whisper White
Basic Gray and Whisper White

Now that you have the background let's get on to my project.

If you want to start at the beginning of the hop you can go to our blog, SU stars.  If you get lost along the way you can also go the blog to see the order.  You should have arrived here from Stacy Coombs blog, Stampin Stace.  I am sure she had a wonderful creation to share with you.  For my share I decided to do a card box and a set of cards.  I used Basic Black and Very Vanilla and I added Pink Pirouette as my pop of color to a few of the cards.  I wanted to use a stamp set for all of the projects to show how you can use 1 set to create a project that goes together.  I went through the catalog and decided on Delicate Doilies and Hello Doily as the sets I would use for all my cards.

I began by making my box.  I used a basic box and used the Adorning Accents Edgelit Dies and Adorning Accents Textured Impressions Embossing Folders to create the bottom flap of my box.  I added a Pink Pirouette doily and a ribbon and bow to finish the front.  Here is the box closed.

Sketch Frenzy Friday -

Happy Friday Everyone!

Since it is Friday that means it is Sketch Frenzy Friday.  We had a great sketch today created by Tina Munzke.

I wasn't sure what I was going to do with this one.  I wanted to do something different.  The other day I was looking at my catalog and saw the Hello Doily background stamp and all of a sudden I saw peacock feathers.  I decided I wanted to try and see if I could recreate them.

I found a picture of one online and tried to recreate it using the stamp.  I'm not sure If I have the coloring down yet, what do you think?  I think I have the "eye" pretty good.  Let me know what you think.

Pretty Just Believe

Hello Everyone!

I saw a card posted by Anne Marie Hile and loved the color combination.  I knew I wanted to use those colors so my card today used the color challenge at The Paper Players 

 

I like doing the sketches at Red Hot Stampers Sketch Challenge so I used their sketch for this week and the above color combo to create my card. 

 


I got some of the new ruffled ribbon and it just so happens to fit the color challenge so I used it on my card.  This ribbon is so soft and silky feeling.  If you don't have any you need to get some as it is easy to work with.  Here is my creation.

I really like this color combination.  It is really striking.  This set was a great one for this sketch challenge.  I had not played with it for a while so glad I pulled it out for this one.  Thanks for looking and have a Great Day!

Clean and Simple Summer Solstice

Good Morning La dies!

I don't know about your area but our weather is crazy!  On Monday the highest was high 30's, yesterday we were high 50's, and tomorrow we will be high 30's again.  The weather man says this will be our pattern for a while.  This is crazy!

Okay I know you didn't come to discuss the weather so on to my card.  I used the sketch challenge at Stamping 411

 

This was a clean and simple sketch so I went with a clean and simple card.  Here is what I created.

Since it is Tuesday that means it is time for our Hand Stamped Sentiments challenge.  This week we were to make a shaker card.

I had an idea and went with it.  I used punches to create a flower and made the shaker for the center.  In looking at this I think I should have used different colors for the butterflies.  I was thinking of the monarch butterflies when I chose my colors.  The final size is a lot larger than I had wanted.  This will need a 5 1/2" square envelope.  Here is my creation.

Late Night Stampers - shape card

Happy Monday Everyone!

I hope everyone had a great weekend!  I had fun with Zoie!  We played a lot and went shopping.  I got 2 cabinets to help me organize.  Can't wait to get things put away.

Over at Late Night Stampers our challenge this week is to create a card that is any shape other than a rectangle or square.  I really had to think about this as I wanted something that was fresh and colorful.  I decided to go with the Fun Flowers die to make my card.  I also used the Fine Flourish stamp to add some texture.  Here is what I created.

After I cut the card, I used the Fine Flourish to stamp in white and emboss with white.  I then sponged the edges with Tangarine Tango.  I finished it of with a Tangarine Tango circle and a center scalloped circle and a pearl.  This would make a very cute thank you card as it is about 4 x 4.

Sunny Stampin Explosion Box Challenge

Hello Stampers!

I am reposting this from a week ago as I posted it the wrong day.  

We had some fabulous weather over the past few days.  Usually at this time in January we have freezing temperatures and may even get a snow storm or 2.  Our temperatures have been in high 50's to mid 60's and one day it was even close to 70.  It was delightful.

Over at Sunny Stampin Morning Donna conducts a morning chat.  This is open to all stampers and we have a great time.  If you get a free morning at 10 join us as we have a lot of fun.  One of the activities Donna started is a biweekly challenge.  We have had some fun ones in the past and this time she challenged us to make an explosion box - she tries to pick challenges that will stretch our skills.  I have made explosion boxes in the past so I wanted to challenge myself by trying a different shape rather than a box.  I saw on another demos blog a pyramid shaped explosion box and decided to try that one.  I had to go searching for a pattern but once I found out how to cut it I was set.  Here is my box I made for the challenge.

Explosion boxes are designed to be scrapbooks.  I will be putting pictures in here but not sure what the subject will be yet.  I will add journaling too.  Not sure if I will add the journaling with a tag I hang from the panel or a punched image on the panel.  Hope you enjoyed my explosion box and that if you get a chance you will join us.  Thanks for looking and have a Sensational Sunday!
