Christmas Holiday Mini Swap

Good Morning Stampers!

Today I am sharing my card for a swap group I am in.  There are 6 of us in the group.  We are to create cards that could be used for class so they have to have multiple layers and be "over the top".  Our theme this month was to use a Christmas set from the upcoming Holiday mini.

I had only ordered one set from the mini so that was the set I had to use.  I had wanted to do the faux flannel technique for the stockings but I did not have a spray adhesive and I used Tombow glue which caused the ink to run.  I also wanted to use the new letterpress plate in the mini, but I could not get the imprint to come out.  It either tore up the paper or the imprint was not recognizable.  Need to play with it some more.

That meant I had to revamp my idea.  I pulled out the Northern Frost embossing folder and embossed a piece of vanilla.  I then created a template and sprayed just the snowflakes with Champagne shimmer mist.  After that I just added the other elements.  Here is what my final card looked like.

As an update on the clean up from Irene, we still have 9,000 homes without electricity.  Our coop has put together a slide show of some of the damage.  I have included the link below.  The pictures are unbelievable and really show how hard we were hit.

Tomorrow I will have a chance for a free pass to the next round of Stampin' Fun & Friends so make sure you come back to leave me a comment.  Thanks for looking and have a Wonderful Wednesday!

Hand Stamped Sentiments - Monochromatic

Hello Ladies!

We have a great challenge this week at Hand Stamped Sentiments.  We are to do a monochromatic card.

I went for a clean and simple design.  I actually used a scallop rectangle that I had cut for another card and never used.  It helped the card come together quickly.  This is another fast card with taking about 15 minutes to make.  Here is my interpretation of a monochromatic card.

Hope you liked my card today.  I will be sharing my swap card tomorrow.  I really like how it turned out and I used several new items for the Holiday mini so be sure to come back.  Thanks for looking and have a Terrific Tuesday!

Late Night Stampers -

Good Morning Stampers!

Well I survived Hurricane Irene!  I did not have power for almost 24 hours.  It finally came back on about 5 yesterday.  Our area has been hit very hard.  We still have around 34,000 without power.  As of 6 last night all our substations are back on but we have some transmission lines that are still not energized.  There are many roads still blocked by downed trees so the electric company can't even get to the lines to fix them.  It will be days before they get them fixed.  I am so grateful I have electricity.  Jess still does not have it.  They were supposed to get it last night but they didn't.

My card today is for the Late Night Stampers challenge to add paper tearing.  I have not done this in a while so it was nice to revisit it.  I kept my layout simple so this is easy to mass produce.  Here is my creation.

Hope you enjoyed my card today!  Thanks for looking and have a Marvelous Monday!

Sketch Frenzy Friday - Halloween time

Happy Friday Stampers!

Wow can you believe August is almost gone?  School has started, the days are getting shorter, but we still don't have cooler weather.  Can't wait for crisp days and some SNOW!!!!!!!

I have another sneak peek for you today!  This is a single stamp that I wanted to use in my workshop in September.  I decided to play with it before then though.

We have a great sketch today.  This one was created by Deb Currier.  It was a lot of fun to use.

Here is what I did with the sketch.

So are you ready for some Halloween cards?  It won't be long before the day will be here.  Now it is time to head on over to Sharon Wheet's blog to see what she did with the sketch.  Thanks for looking and have a Fabulous Friday!

Another Halloween Workshop card

Hi Ladies!

Wow where has the week gone.  I cannot believe it is already Thursday.  We are bracing for a Hurricane Irene this weekend.  It is supposed to hit here on Sunday.  We will see what she does.  It would be nice to get some rain and she skirt the coast and go on back out to sea.

I worked on another workshop card for my September class.  This is another Halloween card and is also a sneak peek of a new stamp in the upcoming mini.  I used SUO Challenge of using a new stamp set.

When I saw this card in the upcoming mini I thought it would look so good stamped on a brayered background.  I tried but could not get the brayer color to work like I wanted it so I gave up and sponged the background.  The image is then stamped with Staz-on ink.  I like how it turned out.  Here is my creation.

I just realized that while my stamp set on the outside is a new stamp, the stamp used on the inside is not and the ribbon is not SU either.  Oh well at least I got another card for my workshop completed.  Thanks for looking and have a Great Day!

Paper Players

Happy Wednesday Everyone!

I am enjoying my time with Zoie this week.  She is such a delight and is always talking to you.

I am super excited as tonight I am having dinner with several ladies from my VC Rock group.  It will be fun to meet them face to face rather than through e-mail.  I will let you know how it went.

I needed to start working on my cards for my September workshop.  These will be Halloween cards as that holiday is right around the corner.  I saw a great sketch at The Paper Players

Hand Stamped Sentiments - Banner Time

Hello Stampers!

I hope everyone is having a good day and will get some time to create today.  I am up at Jess' but I have posts for this week as well as I am working on my projects for the next session of Stampin' Fun and Friends - Autumn Artistry.  I have 2 great projects for you with this session so if you did not sign up make sure you do soon to take advantage of the early bird price.

Today is our challenge at Hand Stamped Sentiments.  Our challenge this week was to create a card, scrapbook page, or project that had a banner on it.

This was a challenge for me as I am not into banners.  I found a sketch at Stamping 411 that I though I could use so I started working.

I just got the new pennant punch so I decided to use it with some patterned paper and see what I could do.  Here is my creation.

When I had my card finished I needed something in the lower corner so I added the sentiment.  I know the rest of the ladies on the design team did a great job so why don't you hop on over there and check out what they created.  Thanks for looking and have a Terrific Tuesday!

Late Night Stampers - A few of My Favorite Things

Good Morning Stampers!

Well I am headed to my daughter's this week so I can babysit Zoie for her.  I am excited to spend some time with her and take more pics.  I will be sure to share some of them with you.

We have a fabulous challenge at Late Night Stampers.  We are to create a card, scrapbook page, project, etc. and use some of our favorite things.  This is so easy for me!  I love ribbon, bling, layers, and just about anything else that would make a card girly!  I went searching for a sketch and found a good one at Stampin' Royalty

Now I was ready to create using my favorite things!  Here is my creation!

inside of card

Okay so now you can see I used ribbon, bling (the background has the image outlined with a glitter pen), and layers.  I also added polka dots - love those too -, punches, highlighting, and a pink and brown color combination just a few more of my favorite things.

Hope you enjoyed my card today.  Thanks for looking and have a Marvelous Monday!

Scrapbook Sunday - Star album

Good Morning Ladies!

Before I get into today share I wanted to let you know about the early registration for Autumn Artistry.

AUTUMN ARTISTRY
The next session of Stampin’ Fun And Friends
Begins September 20th.
Early registration on now! Only $15
To sign up through Paypal

I am designing for them again this time.  I have 2 projects I am working on and I may do a third.
Okay now on to my share for today.  I took an online class at my vc rocks group.  A lovely lady - Elaine - taught us how to make a star album.  I got to thinking that it would be great to use some of the pockets to hold more photo mats.  I set about working on it.  I got it figured out so I am sharing the basic album today.  I want to use this for my photos from Sequoia National Park.  I had planned on using the Well Worn ds paper but it has not come in yet.  As soon as it is in I will finish the album and share it as well as the pictures that will be in it.

You start with 2 sheets of cardstock - different sizes as they will be layered.  You will have 7 sets of these.

Next you layer the 2 cards so it forms a book.  Do this with all 7 sets.

I joined my layers on the side leaving the front part open for a photo mat.  I made my photo mats and used the large pine tree from Lovely as a Tree on the edge to form the pull for the mat.

After you have all your "books" put together you then join the books by attaching them at the front edge only. If you attached them on all the sides you won't get the star shape when it is opened.  Remember to leave the front and back page unattached so you can add the cover.

Here is what the album looks like opened.  You can see the front and back minus the covers as they are the 2 that are not joined at the top of the photo.

I can't wait to get my paper and pictures and finish this.  Thanks for looking and have a Sensational Sunday!

Sketch Frenzy Friday - Day of Gratitude

Hello Stampers!

Wow 2 days in my craft room and I am in heaven!  I had a great time making 2 cards yesterday.  They were both for our Sketch Frenzy Friday challenges.  One you will see today and one is for next week.  Trying to work ahead!  :)

Today's sketch was created by Angela Walters.

When I saw this I wasn't sure what I was going to do but I decided to use some of the new ds paper in the Holiday mini so this is a sneak peek!  I had a lot of fun as I discovered the Day of Gratitude stamp set matches it.  I was so excited.  Here is what I created.

Isn't this a great card.  I love how it turned out.  Well are you ready to hop on over to the next blog?  Sharon Wheet is the next one so head on over to her blog to see what she did with the sketch.  Thanks for looking and have a Fabulous Friday!

I finally got into my craft room!

I tried all day yesterday to get into my craft room.  I had a workshop last night and after everyone left I cut the grass.  I only got part of it cut and a little of it raked.  Since I was gone last week my grass was very tall.  I will have to finish cutting it tomorrow night.

After I cut the grass, I came in and cleaned up from my workshop.  Then I had some time to play in my craft room.  It was fun and I didn't realize how much I missed creating.

My card today uses the color challenge at Picture Perfect Creations

I am excited to announce that I will also be creating for the next round - Autumn Artistry

Don't want to miss the fun this time?  Head on over to CherylAnne's blog  and sign up.  You will not be disappointed.  I am hoping to be able to use the pdf's from the past round to make some of the projects.  I will share them with you so you can see the talent that is part of this group.  I will be working on my projects over the next few weeks.

Hand Stamped Sentiments -

Sorry this did not post when it was scheduled!

Good Morning Stampers!

Well I have another hectic day today.  I think it will slow down when Thursday gets here.

We have a great challenge at Hand Stamped Sentiments today.  We were to use stitching - real or faux - on our card.

I have to tell you this was a hard one for me.  I don't use either kind of stitching on my cards.  I was able to come up with a card but I don't think it is one of my best ones.  Here is what I created.

Hope you enjoyed my card today.  Head on over to our blog and join us in our challenge this week.  Thanks for looking and have a Terrific Tuesday!

Late Night Stampers - Case another member

Happy Monday Everyone!

Well I am back home after 2 fabulous weeks in San Jose!  I have a busy few days and then it will settle down.

We have a great challenge at Late Night Stampers  this week.  We are to CASE (Copy and Share Everythig) another member.  There were a lot of member to choose from but I have always loved Deb Currier's simple style.  I found a great card in her folder that I loved.  Here is Deb's card.

I loved this layout.  Here is what I did with my CASE.

I love the colors on my card.  I also like the clean and simple design.  I need to try this more often for a change.  Hope you liked it also.  Thanks for looking and have a Marvelous Monday!

Our visit to Sequoia National Park

Good Morning Ladies!

Today I am sharing more pics of our trip.  These pics will be of the Park itself and the giant trees.

The drive through the Park to get to the giant trees was gorgeous.  Here are some scenery shots.

This was a huge rock as you can see from the people around it.

This rock will be very significant in a later pic.

We are entering the forest.  I have tried to take pics of the trees with with cars or people near them so you have something to compare the size to.

The view from the hike from the parking lot to the museum to catch the buses.

Remember the rock I said would be significant earlier.  Well they have a trail where you can actually climb to the top of the rock and look out over the entire valley.  Here is a shot of part of the trail.  I could not do the whole trail as you walked along the side of the rock and if you looked down it was a straight shot to the valley floor.  I made it about 2/3 of the way up and had to stop.  Just too scary!  Michaela made it the whole way to the top.

The next stop on the bus route was a huge tree that they had carved a tunnel out of.  During the week they allow cars on this route and you can actually drive through this tunnel.  Michaela and I were having fun.  She stood on one side and I stood on the other and took pics.  That is her on the other side.

These trees have a giant root.  Here is a pic of the root of the tunnel tree.  You can see the tunnel you can drive through in the lower right corner.

Our next stop was the largest trees existing.  They had cut a walkway through the tree.  Here is Michaela in the tunnel.

Here is is the largest tree.  It is called General Sherman.  That is Michaela and myself standing at the base.  Can you believe the size of this tree?

The bus driver told us that one of the trees we saw on our drive that had fallen down was actually 2,750 years old.  It was amazing.  I leave you with the evening sky from our cabin on the last night.  I will be back tomorrow with my Late Night Stampers challenge card.

Hope you enjoyed my little tour of our trip.  Thanks for looking and have a Sensational Sunday!
