It's Kids Week at Late Night Stampers

Another Monday morning!  Did you have a good weekend?  I was lazy and did nothing.  I haven't done that in a while but it felt so good.

We have a great challenge at Late Night Stampers this week.  You are to create a project for a child.  I wasn't sure what I was going to do but then I remembered I wanted to make some wall art for my soon to be here granddaughter.  So with that in mind I knew I would be making some pictures for my daughter to decorate her room.

I ran across an awesome wall collage by Debbie Martin at Clever and Cute.  I decided to use her collage and create some pictures for my daughter.  She is decorating with butterflies so this was my theme for her pictures.  Realize that my pictures do not have any mats around them.  I may mat a few of them.  All the butterflies have some kind of swirl stamped on them to add some interest.  I also used rhinestones and pearls to decorate them.  They are not attached yet as I want to decide if I will mat them or not.  When I do attach them I will bend the wings up.  Here are my creations.

My first picture uses a background technique that is a Technique Junkie tutorial called Cottoned Color.  I had fun doing it but if you look in the upper left hand corner you can see I messed that corner up.  This is one that I am thinking I may need to mat.  What do you think?

My second picture uses a background technique that I read about on a technique junkie's blog.  When I did it the way it was described my yellow and pink mixed and turned orange.  I did not want to use that since that is not her colors.  I will use that background paper later this week for a card so look for it.  With that I took the 2 colors and blended them onto the glossy paper.  I liked the look of this so I then stamped the Priceless swirl on the background with Going Gray.  I then used the Butterflies die to cut out the big butterfly.  I stamped the wings with the medallion from Bliss using Pretty in Pink, added some pearls and I was done.  I don't think think I will add a mat to this one.  What are your thoughts?

My last picture used Going Gray cardstock and I stamped the swirl from Baroque Motifs.  I then added my butterflies.  Here is my picture.  I don't know if I will mat this one or not.  Give me your opinions.

So what do you think of my 3 pictures?  The pictures are all 5 by 7.  I used the colors my daughter is using in the baby's room - gray, pink, and yellow.  Thanks for looking and have a Marvelous Monday!

Still good with my resolution!

Happy Sunday everyone!

So, what are your plans today?  I have to prepare for my college class this week and work on my Late Night Stampers design team project.  I also need to clean my house but that is not something I really want to do.

My share today is the next 2 page spread in Bijou's scrapbook.  I am really getting a lot of her book completed which is fun.  These are pretty self explanatory so I will just share them with you.  Here are the 2 pages.

Casing an Idea from Carole' Anne

Several weeks ago my good friend Carole' Anne at Stampin' the stress away did a great idea on her blog.  I thought it was interesting and decided to use that idea for my cards for my workshop this month.

Carole' Anne used cards from the Big Catalog and cased them to make a set of card.  I thought it would be fun to show the ladies how they can use the cards in the catalog and case them and use colors they like.  I started with a card on page 164 that I really liked.

I then ran across a color challenge at The Color Dare that I thought would be perfect for this card.

Color Dare #98
Perfect Plum
Always Artichoke
Neutral of Choice

All I had to do then was make my card.  Here is what I came up with.

In thinking about it I think I should have used a different color selection than the one I did as it is close to the one in the book (Olive and Razzleberry).  As I make my other cards for my workshop I will remember to do that.  Hope you enjoyed my card.  Thanks for looking and have a Super Saturday!

Sketch Frenzy Friday Bliss

Happy Friday Everyone!

I am so glad the weekend is here.  I plan on using it to catch up with everything I am behind on.  I will be spending a lot of time in my craft room to do that.

My card today is for our sketch challenge at Sketch Frenzy FridayTammy Fite  gave us a great sketch to work with.

When I saw this I knew I wanted to do some embossing for our Big Shot challenge at Late Night Stampers.  I thought the larger back panel would be perfect for that.  I thought the small panel in front would be good for a sentiment.  Once I chose my set that idea changed but I like how it turned out anyway.  Now I needed some colors.  I checked out my challenge blogs and as it worked out Create, Ink!  had a great color combo.

I was ready to create.  I had gotten several new SAB sets and wanted to use one so I chose the Bliss set.  I love this set and would love to see it in the new catalog in August.  The rest was pretty easy.  I used some of the Patterns Designer Series Paper Stack.  I love this paper and it is a great deal for paper.  When my card was finished I used some of the pearls (another great deal) and added them to my butterfly.  Here is my finished creation.

So are you ready to see what the other ladies came up with using the same sketch?  Hop on over to Ros Davidson's blog to check out what she did.  Thanks for looking and have a Fabulous Friday!

Daisies will be here soon!

I love daisies!  I have loved them my whole life.  They are such a simple, fun flower.  Today's card was created with the idea that we will soon be seeing daisies.

I started with Mary Jo's sketch challenge at Techno Stamper

When I saw this I pictured a black, yellow, and white card with daisies.  I began by layering some black ds paper on black cardstock on the white card base.  Next I took the Daffodil ds paper and layered it on the same color cardstock.  Next I stamped the daisy 3 times and cut it out.  I used a gold gel pen for the center.  The only thing it needed was some ribbon.  I used the last of my black lace.  Here is my creation.

Hope you enjoyed my card.  I just needed some daisies and decided to make some.  Thanks for looking and have a Great Day!

Our project this month

Good Morning Ladies!

I wanted to share with you the card we are going to make tonight at my project class.  I saw on a blog a video about the Never Ending Card.  I thought it was a great idea and decided this would our project this month.

This is a great card as you keep unfolding the card until you get tired of unfolding.  It basically has 4 different card fronts.  I think it would bring a smile to anyone who would receive it.  Here is my version of the card.

Something Different

Well our crazy weather is at it again.  We had beautiful 70 degrees weather on Friday and they are now saying we could have snow flurries tonight.  I would not be surprised if we did not have a snow storm before we finally get our beautiful Spring weather.

My card today is for our challenge at Hand Stamped Sentiments.

We were to create a project using a die shape.  I started with the sketch challenge at Just Add Ink

I got my colors from the inspiration challenge at Stamp-a-holics

I saw the blue as Pacific Point and I am not a fan of that color so I used it just a little.  I combined it with Early Espresso and Crumb Cake.

I wanted to use my Lots of Tag sizzlets which I hadn't played with in a long, long, long time.  I thought it would be fun to stamp the little flower from Wedding Sweet in the center of the oval shape. I then mounted this on the rectangle panel.  The rest is easy to figure out.  Here is my creation.

Hope you enjoyed my card today.  Thanks for looking and have a Terrific Tuesday!

Big Shot Challenge

Happy Monday!

Well we have a big shot challenge this week at Late Night Stampers.  You can use your big shot to cut or emboss for your card.  This is right up my alley.

I used the color challenge at Create, Ink

I also used the sketch challenge at Stamping 411

This was a great challenge.  I loved the colors and I had fun using a set I hadn't used in a while.  Here is my creation.

Hope you enjoyed my card today.  Thanks for looking and have a Marvelous Monday!

Scrapbook Sunday

Well did you miss me last week?  I can't believe I had a week that wouldn't quit.  I had 2 family emergencies, a doctor's appointment that may result in surgery, putting my sister in the hospital, and getting a horrible cold.  Needless to say I spent a lot of time sleeping and trying to deal with all the other issues.  I am back now and slowly getting better.

I spent some time in my craft room yesterday and made a few things for you.  I really did not want to break my resolution so I made a double page spread for Bijou's book.  Here are my next pages.

Good Morning!

Well it is Tuesday and that means it is Hand Stamped Sentiments day.  This week we have a sketch challenge.  You should check it out and join us.

When I looked at the pocket I had this idea to do the Build a Blossom and use the Petal Punch to make a center element that opened with a message inside.  I thought the Cute by the Inch set would be perfect for inside the punch.  I knew I was going to flip the sketch but when I had it all finished I realized I missed the extra layer on the side.  I am not sure the extra layer would have worked.  Here is what I came up with.

Hope you enjoyed my card today.  Take a trip over to the Hand Stamped Sentiments  website and check out the other ladies creations.  Thanks for looking and have a Terrific Tuesday!

Late Night Stampers Male Challenge

Good Morning!

Our challenge this week at Late Night Stampers is to make a male card.  I had a new technique come through my Technique Junkies newsletter this month I wanted to try.  It is called Neutral Shadows.  I thought it would be a good one to do for the male card.

I used the Lovely as a Tree set and some Neutral DS paper.  I went with River Rock and Always Artichoke.  Here is my creation.

Scrapbook Sunday - Late but still met my resolution!

Good Sunday Afternoon to you!

Well I had a great time at the shower.  Jess got lots of cute things for the baby.  Needless to say I did not get time yesterday to make my scrapbook pages.  I did however today get a few minutes so I am posting it late but still within my resolution.  Here are the next 2 pages of Bijou's scrapbook.

She is such a princess and she know it.  I get some great shots of her "lounging" on the bed.  That is what I have today.  The one shot is her being so lazy she can't even get up and get her bone.  She lays there and uses her paws to pull it to her.  So funny!

Well I am off to watch the race.  I am so glad race season has started back up.  I am a huge Nascar fan and love watching the race on Sunday afternoon.  Hope you enjoyed my pages today.  Thanks for looking and have a Sensational Sunday!

Not what I had planned

Happy Saturday Everyone!

This is a quick post.  So much to do and so little time.

You don't know this about me but I am another passion besides stamping.  Cross stitching!  I was on a site that had their cross stitch patterns on sale and ran across one that I thought would be fun to recreate as a card.

I loved these colors but these are our retired colors and I always thought poppies were red - if anybody know differently let me know.  So I decided to make my poppies red.  Next I needed a background color.  I decided to use Sahara Sand.  The rest was a matter of stamping.  I am not sure I like it.  What do you think?  Here is my creation.

I hope to get time to play later today but they are having my daughter's baby shower today.  I need to do my scrapbook pages as I don't want to mess up my resolution.  :)

Thanks for looking and have a Super Saturday!

Sketch Frenzy Friday meets Hearts Abound

It's Friday!!!!!!!!

I have had the busiest week this week.  I am so glad it is over.  My daughter is coming down today.  We are doing her baby shower tomorrow.  Today we are going shopping for material to make the bumper pads and bed skirt.  Then my work really begins.

My card today for our Sketch Frenzy Friday challenge uses the great sketch from Sharon Field.  I have admired Sharon's work for quite some time so I am excited to use on of her sketches to create my card.

I also needed another sample for our challenge at Late Night Stampers - Hearts Abound.  I usually change the shapes but in this case I kept the heart and used it so I could make a card for our challenge also.  I used some unusual colors with this card but they still work - looks better in real life.  Here is my creation.

Now it is time to hop on over to Ros Davison's blog.  I am sure you will enjoy what she had created.  Thanks for looking and have a Fabulous Friday!

Inlaid Embossing

I wanted to try a technique that I saw a month or so ago.  It is called inlaid embossing.

I began with the color challenge at Picture Perfect Creations

I pulled out my sizzlets which I had not used in quite some time.  I cut the flowers out and then used the white gel pen to trace around the embossed image so it would show up when I embossed it.  I also used the 1/4" circle punch to make the center of the flower.  After I had my pieces all glued down, I ran the paper through the Big Shot with the Textured Impressions embossing folder.  The clue is to make sure the pieces are glued down fully so they don't pop up when you emboss them.  Here is my creation.
