Sketch Frenzy Friday Build a Blossom

Yes it is Sketch Frenzy Friday as well as New Year's Eve!  Do you have some plans for tonight?  It will be a quiet one for me with watching the festivities on the tv.

This week we have a great sketch by Jennifer Weide.

I got some new sets from the Occasions Mini which starts on Monday that I wanted to play with.  I thought the Build a Blossom set would be great for main image.  Little did I know that set has a huge blossom.  It barely fit on the card.  I also added some bling to fit the Hand Stamped Sentiments challenge to add bling.  The Regal Rose piece really needed some bling anyway and I spritzed it with my Frost Shimmer Mist!  Here is my creation.

Now it is time to continue on your hop and visit Ros Davidson's blog.  I know you will love her project.

I hope everyone has a Happy, Healthy, and Prosperous New Year!  I know it has quite a few fun things in store for me.  Thanks for looking and have a Fabulous Friday!

Playing with another new set

I had a set marked in my book since August that I really liked.  I finally broke down and ordered it and I am glad I did.  I love the For Everything set.   It has lots of little pieces that you can use in a variety of ways.

I started with the sketch challenge at Techno Stamper

http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_qPgEpSRhOnw/TRktkYNBvxI/AAAAAAAAFdY/mjAXs3Qitoc/s1600/TSSC154.jpg

I then used the color challenge at Utah Diva's International

http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_Axt-zucF_7Q/TRsoF_KSRoI/AAAAAAAAAxI/nKYRtRqmYQE/s1600/016_color_inspiration.jpg

In my order that came yesterday I got the Designer Series Prints Pack in Neutrals and I also got the In Color 6 x 6 pack that is a free hostess gift.  Since I had to use Soft Suede and Blushing Bride I pulled those papers out to use.  My card base is some of the Soft Suede textured paper.  I have some of this in various colors and always forget to use it.  Here is my final creation.

Can you believe that tomorrow is New Year's Eve?  This year has flown by!  It is hard to image we are starting a new year in 2 days.  Thanks for looking and have a Great Day!

The Last of My Gift

A couple of weekends ago I spent both days working on a Christmas gift.  Today I am going to share one of my gifts.  I saw this great calendar on Glenda's blog.  I loved it and thought it would make a great Christmas gift.  As luck would have it, I had borrowed the set from a friend for a workshop card in November and I had asked her if I could keep the set to do one for January.  I appreciated this as she loves this set and uses it a lot in the Fall.

Glenda has all the cutting dimensions as well as a video on her post.  I thought since I was making 1 it would be nothing to make 2 so I made an extra one for a special friend!  Here is my case of her desk calendar!

I am back home.  I hope to spend some time today in my craft room working on challenges.  I will have one ready to post tomorrow.  Thanks for looking and have a Wonderful Wednesday!

Another part of my weekend gift making!

Yesterday I shared the stationary box I made for a friend.  Today I would like to share some of the cards I made to go inside.

This set was inspired by one I saw online many months ago.  I tried to find the original post but could not.  If you by chance know who might have created the original, please let me know so I can give them credit.

I thought it would be nice to make a set of cards that my friend could personalize as to the occasion she would need them for.  I used the design below and created 4 cards in different colors - navy, turquoise, pink, and red.  I then punched the same color using the scallop oval.  I then stamped 4 sentiments - Thank You, Happy Birthday, With Sympathy, and Thinking of You in each of the 4 colors and punched them out with the large oval.  Now she can choose the card and the sentiment she wants and add them to the card and she is ready to mail them.  Here are 2 of the colors.

I am traveling home today.  I had 2 great days with my daughter.  We went to Babies 'R Us and registered for lots of baby needs.  I cannot believe how many choices there are now.  When I had her 26 years ago it was so much easier!

Thanks for looking and have a Terrific Tuesday!

Sharing a Christmas Gift

This will be a quick pre-post as I need to get to bed.  My daughter and I are planning on going to register at the baby department in a couple of stores and she wants to get out early.

I wanted to share with you a gift idea I made for a co-worker.  I made a stationary box with notecards and regular cards enclosed.  I have had this tutorial saved on my computer for quite some time.  I loved this the first time I saw it but I have to admit I was a little intimidated to give it a try.  Well 2 Saturdays ago was the day I decided to give it a try.

Jackie Topa has a great tutorial for making this and guess what?  It is FREE!!!!!!  I love how this turned out.  Today I will share the box and the set up and the note cards.  Tomorrow I will share the cards I made.  I have to admit the cards were inspired by several people who's blogs I read.  Here is the box.

 the box opened

The colors are a little off as the box is made out of Cherry Cobbler textured paper.  Here are the note cards.  I did 2 of each design.

Hope you enjoyed the stationary box and note cards.  Tomorrow I will share some of the other cards I made.  Thanks for looking and have a Marvelous Monday!

Snow is Falling

I hope everyone had a great holiday yesterday.  It was very quiet here and about 4 the snow started falling.  It was a fine snow so at 9 we still did not have any accumulation.  It will be interesting to see if the prediction of 5 - 12" holds.

My card today uses some more snowflakes.  I may need to borrow some snowman sets from my friend so you don't get tired of see snowflakes.  I did get some new sets from the Occasions mini that I will play with later this week to give you a sneak peek.  I used the sketch challenge at Hand Stamped Sentiments

I paired it with the color challenge at Create, Ink!

Here is my creation.

Hope you enjoyed my card today.  I am headed to my daughters for our Christmas.  I have some posts ready to go for the next few days so make sure you check back to see what I created.

Final Christmas Card

Merry Christmas!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful day!  I am not sure if I am traveling to my daughter's today or tomorrow.  It will depend on the snow.  I do have posts ready to go for the next several days so check back to see what I have created.

Today's card used the sketch challenge at Creative Sketches.

It has an added twist to make it a holiday card.  Since it is Christmas Day I decided to go with that one.  I also found a great color challenge that fit with the Christmas theme at Diva Coffee Break Designs.

 http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_H7oCeoDGDhA/TRBQLQe84zI/AAAAAAAAAIs/gouesXw0vXs/s1600/DCBD%252BCOLOR%252BCHALLENGES200_208-001.jpg
There was also a ribbon challenge at Stampin' B's Design Team.  You had to use a ribbon but could not tie it or make a bow.

I had a lot of fun with this card.  Here is my final creation.

I hope you have family and friends close today and you can enjoy the beauty of the season.  Thanks for looking and have a Joyous Holiday!

Valentine Day of Gratitude

I can't believe it is Christmas Eve!  The year has just flown by.  I hope you are all ready for tomorrow!  :)

Friday means it is Sketch Frenzy Friday time!  We have another great sketch this week.  Deb Currier designed this one for us.

I played again with the Day of Gratitude stamp set.  I have to admit that I wasn't really thrilled with this set when I saw it in the mini catalog and didn't feel I needed it.  When I went to Regionals, we got the set as part of our registration fee.  I took me a while but I have been playing with it quite a bit lately.

Last week I mentioned that I was going to play with the medallion using a Valentine theme.  Well that is what I did.  I really like how it turned out.  What do you think?

Now it is time to continue on the blog hop by visiting Ros Davidson's blog.  I am sure she has a wonderful creation to share.

I hope you have a quiet evening to sit and relax and enjoy the beauty of the season.  Thanks for looking and have a Fabulous Friday!

A January Workshop Card

I needed to make some of my cards for my January workshop so I thought I would use a few sketch challenges to make one.

I saw Mary Jo's Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge and knew it would make a great snowflake card.
http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_qPgEpSRhOnw/TQ9EpaVWwqI/AAAAAAAAFcE/LyWZSHJZK6k/s1600/TSSC153.jpg

We also have a doodling challenge at Late Night Stampers.  I thought it would be fun to add some doodles to this card also.  I have to admit I changed my paper layers several times before I finished with the final design.  This card is really sparkly as the snowflake is traced with the glitter pen, the ribbon is sparkly, and I sprayed it with my Vanilla Shimmer spray.  Here is my creation.

Hope you are ready for the big day as it is almost here.  Thanks for looking and have a Great Day!

Priceless Valentine

Well many of us will get our wish for a white Christmas.  The weatherman says we are going to get snow in the afternoon of Christmas Day.  Right now they don't know if it will be a little or a huge dump.  You can bet I will be watching the weather the next few days to see what happens.

Today's card began with the sketch from Stamping 411.

 http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_mZMAZVbNj70/TQv3PXqZz_I/AAAAAAAAFTw/9hoD3ho70D8/s1600/SSC182.jpg

I wasn't sure what I was going to do with this except I wanted to use the Priceless set.  I saw an emboss with color at the Our Creative Corner blog.  The challenge was to ink your embossing folder before running it through your Big Shot.  I thought this would be fun so I decided to use the Petals-a-Plenty embossing folder.  I inked up the raised side rather than the flat side.  This gave the petals an outline of color and I really liked how it turned out.  I put the indented side up as I really liked the look of this.  This is a 5 1/2" square card.  I think it makes a very nice Valentine card.  What do you think?  Here is my creation.

I will be running a bunch of errands today.  Need to get my food for Christmas Day!  Thanks for looking and have a Wonderful Wednesday!

Almost Finished

Well I am almost finished with my cards for my All Occasion stamp-a-stack.  Today's card is another one we will do.

I began with the sketch from Just Add Ink.

 http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_m-uHy692BVM/TQn40jBafLI/AAAAAAAAGIA/Wp7DHKdhMaw/s1600/JAI48.jpg

I had wanted to use the Awash with Flowers set and this sketch was perfect for it.

Now that I have my sketch and stamp set I needed to choose my colors.  I looked at the cards I had already completed and realized I hadn't used a purple so I decided to try that one.  I tried several of the purples we have in our color collections and settled on Elegant Eggplant.  I am ready to create!  Here is my final creation.

Hope you enjoyed my card today.  Thanks for looking and have a Terrific Tuesday!

Late Night Stampers - Doodling Week

Happy Monday Everyone!

We have a challenge this week at Late Night Stampers to do some doodling on your cards.  I am still working with some winter cards as I need a few more to send out.  I thought it would be fun to use snowflakes and included the doodling around the edge to be snowflakes and then add some doodling to show the path the snowflakes took while falling.

I began with Not Quite Navy as my background.  I stamped some snowflakes on the background and embossed with Iridescent Ice embossing powders mixed.  Next I used my Northern Frost die to cut out snowflakes from Bashful Blue, Baja Breeze, and white.  I then used dimensionals to add them to my card front and added my doodling using the white gel pen.  It needed something else so I added some sparkly ribbon and finished it off with a spritz of Vanilla Smooch!  Here is my sparkly creation!

So are you tired of snowflakes yet?  I'll see if I can't find something else for a few day.  Thanks for looking and have a Marvelous Monday!

Faux Cloisionne Roses

I played with a new technique the other day.  The Creative Sketches blog had a Faux Cloisionne technique challenge.  You use a glossy page from a magazine and emboss with gold.  I found a great page in my magazine that was red and thought I could use the rose from Fifth Avenue Floral to make a rose.

I began by embossing the rose 4 times on the page and cutting out different layers to give it some depth.  Now I need to decide on my colors.  I saw a color challenge at Create, Ink! that was perfect.

ColorChallenge21

Now I needed a design.  I saw the sketch challenge on The Stamp-a-Holics  blog and knew it would be perfect.

I then needed to add my layers.  It needed something so I pulled out my Baroque Motifs added the swirl and some flowers to tie all the colors together.  Here is my creation.

So what did you think of my card today?  Isn't the faux cloisionne technique fun!  Thanks for looking and have Sensational Sunday!

Challenge 100 - Celebrations

Happy Saturday!

Well we are gearing up for another snow storm here tomorrow.  They aren't sure what path it will take and how much we will get but let's just say this one is coming from the south and typically we get walloped in those cases unless it goes out to sea.  This is shades of last year but the first one was not as much snow as last years.  I managed to shovel the snow up near the house as it does not get sun and also did the sidewalk.  I am ready no matter what.

Today's card is for the Late Night Stampers challenge this week was to make a card for a celebration.  I decided to make a baby card.  I used Mary Jo's Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge.

 http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_qPgEpSRhOnw/TQWgAAaY-wI/AAAAAAAAFbM/97HMBA0ewUI/s1600/TSSC152.jpg

I stamped the background with the Fine Flourish stamp.  I also used some of my new metal sheets.  That made the polka dot layer.  They were fun to work with.  I also used some of the Greenhouse Gala ds paper behind the buggy.  I think this is a cute card.  What do you think?   Here is my creation.

The yellow ribbon looks really bright in the picture, but in real life it isn't.  Hope you have some plans to stamp today.  It is a busy time of year and we need to take some time to relax and be creative.  Thanks for looking and have a Super Saturday!

Sketch Frenzy Friday Sparkle

Happy Friday Ladies!

The weather has been sooooooo cold here.  My heat pump has been running constantly.  Don't want to see what my electric bill will be.  How has the weather been in your area?

My card today began with the sketch at Sketch Frenzy Friday.  This week the sketch was created by Angela Walters.

I ran across a snowflake challenge on Hand Stamped Sentiments that I wanted to do so I thought I would combine the 2.

I began by inking the snowflake with Baja Breeze and rolling the edges in Marina Mist.  After I stamped it I traced it with my glitter pen to make it really sparkly.  I then layered it on the same colors of cardstock.  Remember my card from Wednesday where I used Day of Gratitude and I mentioned I had done one with other colors I didn't like, well as I was working on this card it was laying on my desk staring at me.  I picked it up and it matched my card colors today so I used it for the element at the top of the sketch.  I used the same procedure on this one as I did on the one on Wednesday.

I had my elements sitting on my card and it seemed to need something, so I pulled out some of my sparkly ribbon and added it.  I think the card turned out very pretty.  What are your thoughts?  Here is my creation.

Can you tell I love snowflakes and this medallion from Day of Gratitude!  Hope you are not getting tired of seeing it.  I promise to use another set for a few days.

Now hop on over to Ros Davidson's blog to see what she did with our sketch.  Thanks for looking and have a Fabulous Friday!

All Occasion Get Well

Good Morning Ladies!

I was busy the other day working on some more of my stamp-a-stack cards.  I only have 3 left and I know what I am doing for those so it won't take me long to make them.

My card today is the Get Well card that is one of the options.  I borrowed the Pun Fun set from a friend as I wanted to use the whale on my card.  I just stamped the whale and colored him with markers.  The rest is easy to figure out.  This is a simple but cute card.  Here is my creation.

Hope you enjoyed my card and found some inspiration.  Thanks for looking and have a Great Day!

Winter Day of Gratitude

Hello Ladies!

I decided to play some more with my Day of Gratitude stamp set.  This time I thought I would make a winter card.  I found a great sketch that would work with the medallion.  I found the one at Our Creative Corner and knew it would work.

http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Aq_NmvBM0fY/TLqBr5q5qVI/AAAAAAAADWU/CZ9af8AoNCc/s1600/sarahgoughsketchOCC.jpg

I began by inking the medallion with Bashful Blue, Baja Breeze, and Marina Mist markers.  I overstamped it with Versamark and applied Iridescent Ice embossing powder.  I did not like this as the Bashful Blue was too light.  I redid it but this time used Baja Breeze, Marina Mist, and Not Quite Navy.  I liked this better so that is the one I went with.  I added the vertical panel stamped with Charming and a sparkly ribbon.  Using the Northern Frost strip I cut a snowflake from Marina Mist and added it to the center of the medallion.  This was applied to card using dimensionals.  All I needed was a sentiment.  I wanted something that fit the snow theme and found the One of a Kind set and used only part of the sentiment.  When it was all finished I spritzed it with Vanilla Smooch to add even more sparkle.  Here is my creation.

inside of card

So do you like the medallion with winter colors?  I am going to also play with it for Valentine's Day so be looking for that one.  Thanks for looking and have a Wonderful Wednesday!
