Peaceful Christmas

I have my monthly workshop this week so I have to prepare for that.  I am also getting ready for my Christmas Stamp-a-Stack.  I have a class on Tuesday evening and I have to observe some of my interns.  Throw into that mix starting a new job and I will be one busy lady.  I went all summer with no real plans for the fall and then all of a sudden everything happens.  They say when it rains it pours and in my case that is true.

My card for you today is another Christmas card.  When I saw the color combination for some reason Christmas popped into my head and that is what I went with.  Our Creative Corner had a great color combination that I thought would be fun to use.  Here are the colors.

I found a good sketch challenge at Stamping 411.

I also used embossing with my Big Shot so this goes for our challenge at Late Night Stampers.  Have your checked out this amazing site yet?  If you haven't you should come on over and join us.  You would be amazed at the talent in this group.  Putting all the challenges together, here is my creation.

I just noticed that the picture looks like it has something on the Saffron embossed layer.  I sprayed it very heavily with shimmer mist and I guess the pictured picked up the shimmer.  It does not look that way in real life.  Thanks for looking and have a Terrific Tuesday!

Hey Big Shot - using my Big Shot on my projects

Happy Monday!

I have a very busy week ahead of me.  I have so much scheduled that I will be running every day all day long.  I will be glad when the evening comes as I will get to relax.

This week Late Night Stampers has a Big Shot challenge.  You are to use your Big Shot on your cards.  I thought for my first card I would use some of my embossing folders for my card.

I used the color challenge from Color Throwdown

I combined it with the sketch challenge at Pal Paper Arts.

This is a pretty color combination.  I decided to use the Because I Care set.  I colored the hydrangea with my Pretty in Pink marker and then added highlights with my Rose Red marker.  I used 2 different embossing folders - the polka dots and perfect details.  Here is my creation.

Hope you enjoyed my card today.  Thanks for looking and have a Marvelous Monday!

10 Minute Challenge

Happy Sunday Everyone!

Well we are beginning another week and this one takes us into September.  Where has this year gone?  It just seems like it was January and we were dealing with major snowstorms.  I hope we do not have another winter like last year.  I love snow but not when we have storm after storm.  I would just get my driveway dug out and it would snow again.

My card today is for Carole' Anne and Sandi's 10 minute challenge.  This week is an inspiration challenge.

I saw a card in my Stampin' Success magazine that I really liked.  It was done in Daffodil Delight and Basic Black.  I used that idea and changed my colors to Certainly Celery and Concord Crush to go with the inspiration picture.  My  card took 13 minutes which I don't think is too bad.  Here is my creation.

Hope you enjoyed today's creation.  Thanks for looking and have a Sensational Sunday!

Playing with Petal Pizzazz

I hope you have some great plans for the weekend.   I have a card box class today and so looking forward to showing the ladies how to make the box.  When they finish they get to make 4 cards to go inside so they are set with a gift for someone at Christmas.

Today's card is one we will be making next week at my monthly workshop.  I have had this set for some time and haven't used the large flower much as I am not sure what to do with it.  I think if was perfect for this card.  I used the sketch challenge at Mary Jo's Techno Stamper.

I flipped the sketch to make it work for my card.  I am going to give my ladies the choice of whether they want to do a yellow or red card base.  Here is what I created.

Hope you enjoyed my card today!  Thanks for looking and have a Super Saturday.

A great Teacher gift

Happy Friday Everyone!

Wow I can't believe how fast the week flew by.  It just seems like yesterday was Monday.

Today's project is for the Back to School challenge at Late Night Stampers.  If you are not a member of this group you are missing some awesome cards and projects.  Since this is not a card it also fits the Anything but a Card challenge at Hand Stamped Sentiments.  It also goes for the Back to School challenge at Ann's Creative Corner.  Sticky tape was used for all of the projects.

At the beginning of the week I made a post-it note holder for a teacher.  I thought it would be fun to add to that and create a desk set.  The first thing I did was take a mini legal pad and cover the top with paper (I did not have the Neutrals pack of paper so I had to use some retired patterned paper as I wanted black and white dotted on my projects).  I then punched out 3 circles and cut them in the shape of an apple.  I cut brown to form a stem and then green to form the leaves.  I made 3 of them to put at the top.

Next I wanted a container for paper clips and binder clips.  I remember I had a bunch of containers that I had saved when I purchased a bunch of paper flowers from the $1 spot in Target.  I pulled it out and thought it would be a good base but the colors were wrong.  I pulled out my black with white polka dot paper and cut it to go around the outside.  I had it all covered and then needed to add a red ring to the plastic top.  I did this and when I put the top on I realized the top went inside the container and not outside.  This would not have been a problem except my paper I covered the outside with was cut the same height as the side so when you put the top on, you could see the old pattern on the top ring around the container.  Grrrrrr, so I decided to try my hand at making my own container.

Now the fun really begins.  I cut a large scallop circle out of red.  I then made a ring out of white cardstock.  And then it hit me, how was I going to attach it to the scallop circle base.  I decided to cut a circle larger than the ring and then cut the edge to allow me to attach the circle by folding the edge up (similar to cutting the seam allowance when you sew to allow the seam to give).  After I had the edge attached, I cut the black and white strip to go around the outside and attached with sticky tape.  My circle box was now complete.  To attach it to the scallop circle I again used sticky tape.  My container was now complete and just needed a lid.

I cut another scallop circle and I wanted it to be see through so I cut a smaller circle out of the center.  and attached a piece of acetate.  I then cut another circle smaller than the scallop circle to hide the sticky tape and cut a circle out of the center.  As I was getting ready to join the 2 circles, it hit me.  This would be so cute if the top was actually an apple.  That meant I went back to the drawing board.

So I took and cut a large red circle and carefully shaped it like an apple.  Then I cut the brown like a stem and a green leaf.  I cut the center out again and attached the acetate.  As it worked out the circle I made when I was using the scallop circle top worked so I used it and attached to the back of the apple to hide the acetate and the stem and leaf.

Now I needed to have a way to attach the top to the container and be able to open it.  I remember reading on Carole' Anne's blog Stampin Stress Away that she had used the round tab punch to make a hinge for her box so I decided to do the same thing.  It was then I realized I had taped my container together.  I very carefully pulled the box apart and stuck the tab down inside.  I added some more sticky tape and my hinge was now part of my container.  I had to attach it to my apple lid and I was done.  I did have to cut the tab down on the lid so it wouldn't show through the acetate.

Now if you have read the really long post above I know you are anxious to see what I did.  Here is the legal pad and apple container.

I hope you have enjoyed my project today.  Thanks for sticking with me and reading my long post about my issues while I was making the apple container.  Have a Fabulous Friday!

Another Workshop Card

 Hello Ladies!

I hope everyone is planning a great day!  I will be making some cards to share with you.

Today's card is one I made for the sketch challenge at Our Creative Corner.   I made a card using the Hello Again stamp set that one of my customer's Pat loved.  I also know she loves fall cards.  I told her I would use it to make a fall card and make the flowers Black Eyed Susan's.  When I saw this sketch I knew it would be perfect for a fall card.  I am thinking of doing this in our workshop.  What do you think?  Here is my creation.

Here are the final pictures from convention.  The first ones are some great ways to use our new fabric that is in the Holiday mini that starts September 1.

These pictures are of a very dear friend I met through blogging.  Carole' Anne does some fabulous work and I want to be her when I grow up.  If you get a chance visit her blog Stampin Stress Away and let her know I sent you.

This last picture is of Candice, Kim (my friend in Utah), and myself.  There is an interesting story about Kim and I.  At my very first convention 5 years ago we were both standing in line at registration and we struck up a conversation.  For the rest of convention we hung out together and Kim was gracious to give me several tours of Salt Lake as she lives there.  We were chatting several months ago about when we would get to walk on stage.  We have both been a demo for 5 years.  Then we got to talking about when our anniversary date was.  We discovered that we both became demos in the same month and year.  What are the odds of that!

Tomorrow will just be a card.  I want to thank all the people who visited my blog to see the convention pictures.  I have enjoyed sharing them with you.  Thanks for looking and have a terrific day!

8 - 24 - 10

Happy Tuesday!

Well the week off has affect my mojo. I don't think this is one of my best cards, but just so you know everyone has an off day I am going to post it anyway!

I used the color challenge from Just Add Ink

and the sketch challenge at Carole' Anne and Sandi's blogs.

Here is what I came up with.

Here are some more Workshop Project display boards.

The next set if pictures was an area SU set up called the Sweet Shop. They had about 10 displays showing all different kinds of sweet that could be made out of our paper and accessories. You might want to enlarge these to really see some of the awesome creations.

I will have more Sweet Shop pictures for you tomorrow as well as another card. Thanks for looking and have a Terrific Tuesday!
