Kraft and Black, What a Beautiful Neutral Color Combination

Sorry for the late post today. I had dinner with a wonderful friend last night and we had some interesting conversation. I got home a little late and when I opened the door I had quite a mess to clean up from Bijou (my puppy). Needless to say I will be so glad when she is finally housebroken. Anyone got any good hints?

Also I just noticed I hit 5000 blog hits. I will put together some blog candy and post it sometime this weekend for 1 lucky reader!

Today's card was made for the Splitcoast Stampers color challenge this week. We were to use Apricot Appeal, Certainly Celery, and Pixie Pink. I love these colors together. I used the sketch from the Card Positioning System blog. I paired up the colors with the neutral Kraft and it just didn't look right. So I added black and that made everything pop. Here is the sketch and my creation.

Clean and Simple Razzle Dazzle

Sorry the pictures are not as crisp. It was cloudy yesterday afternoon when I took these.

I got a chance to do some stamping yesterday. I made several cards that I will post over the next few days. Today's card was made for the Clean and Simple challenge on Splitcoast Stampers website. I chose to use the image from Razzle Dazzle as I have seen lots of cards with this image but didn't really know how I could use it. This idea just came to me as I was sitting there trying to decide what to do. It didn't show up in the picture, but I used my Stardust Gelly Roll pens to add some sparkle on the flower. Here is my creation for the challenge.

Singing in the Rain

We all need a few "go to" sketches that are quick to put together but look great. Tracy does a good job of creating sketches that are good for that. Barely Bravo Cocoa Butterflies

Well I didn't get a card made yesterday in time to get it posted. I had a nagging headache most of the day so I didn't do much.

Today's card combines 2 challenges. The first challenge was a sketch challenge from the Card Patterns blog. I then used the color challenge from The Color Dare blog. The colors to use were Barely Banana, Bravo Burgundy, Close to Cocoa. The sketch had a flowered vine down the side that I chose to use my rub ons for. Here is the sketch and my creation.

I was busy yesterday

Well I was able to get the next few card challenges completed yesterday. I made 3 cards in the afternoon while Bijou was sleeping (she got her 9 weeks shot and it has wiped her out).

The first card was for the sketch challenge on the Card Positioning Systems blog. When I started this one I wasn't sure where I was going with it. I actually chose my colors and patterned paper first then went looking for an image. The little lined flower image from Embrace Life is one that I don't use much. I decided to play with it for this card to see what I could do with it. After I stamped the flower several times it needed something so I stamped the leaf image a couple of times to help fill it in. Once I had used the aqua painter and ink smooshed in the lid to color the flowers, it still needed something so I used some Sakura Stardust gelly roll pens to add some shimmer. I offset my circles on another card and liked the look so I decided to do that also. I then attached the ribbon to the circle rather than put a sentiment or image in it. My next card was for the July sketch challenge at Our Craft Lounge. They only do 1 sketch a month and I like to play along so I needed to get this one complete ASAP or miss the deadline. I got some new stamps from Hobby Lobby (boy do I love that store - much better than Michael's - wish we had one here) and I decided to use one of them on this card. I think this little House Mouse image was just too cute. My card is a 4 1/4" square card. The card turned out very cute don't you think! Here is the sketch and my creation.

My last card was created for the sketch challenge at the 2 Sketches 4 You blog. I completed 1 sketch and if I have time today I will do the other one and post it tomorrow. When I looked at this sketch I knew I wanted to use a larger stamp and cut it apart. I went looking through my sets and ran across Baroque Motifs and knew it would be perfect with the Flowers Trio punch little flowers. I knew I wanted to use a color I hadn't used in a while so I went looking at my greens and knew Sage Shadow would be the one to use. I love the look of this card. Here is the sketch and my creation.

2 Challenges for you today

Well I got some time to play yesterday and made 2 cards for you today. My new puppy is very demanding so I was often sitting at my table with her on my lap sleeping. Despite her demands for my attention, I did get the cards finished and photographs taken so I could post them today.

The first card uses the sketch from the Card Patterns blog. I included the challenge from the Stampin' B's Design Team blog to include a butterfly on your card. I just missed the deadline for the Stampin' B's challenge as it had to be posted before today. Doesn't matter I really like this card.

I used the Stylized Flowers Embossing folder and Cameo Coral and Certainly Celery markers to color in the recessed areas of the embossing folder. I then ran my folder and paper through the Cuttlebug and it embossed and colored the flowers and leaves. Normally you use an ink pad and swipe it across the flat side of the folder. This allows you to put color on the cardstock that is not embossed and if you have flowers, you cannot do the leaves and flowers different colors. Here is the sketch and my creation.

My second card today uses the sketch from the Sketch Saturday blog. I combined it with the challenge from the Our Creative Corner blog which was to use 3 different embellishments. For my 3 embellishments I pulled out some paper flowers I bought several years ago on clearance and had not used them. I combined the flower with ribbon and brads to make my 3 embellishments. Everything else just seemed to fall into place. I seemed to be into polka dots on this card and if you'll notice the stamped image even has dots on it (did not plan that one!). Some Simple Quick Cards for you

Since I was going to be gone for a few days and knew I wouldn't be able to do some challenges, I decided to make some quick cards. My chemo friend loves stationary and her favorite color is blue. At my July workshop we made a card box that holds invitation size cards. I am planning on making one of the boxes and putting some of my cards in there. The cards are simple and quick.

I saw a simple layout on Cami's blog and decided to use it to make one of the cards in my gift set. Here is my first creation.

Splitcoast Grid Technique

Well as you read this we are leaving Memphis and heading to Tulsa. We have about 6 hours ahead of us today. It will be nice not to be sitting in a car for a few days.

Today's card uses the Grid Technique on Splitcoast Stampers for their Try A New Technique challenge. I had fun with this one. You should try it as it is only 2 layers - card is one and the panel is the second. Had to use my daisies as I just love them! Here is my creation.

Card Patterns Bonus Sketch Card

As you read this today my sister and I are headed for Tulsa, Oklahoma for a cross stitching class. My posts over the next week will be short as I will be posting them while I am on the road.

Yesterday I posted a card made using the sketch from Card Patterns. They also posted a bonus sketch which I used for today's card. I chose the image on this card to also go with the challenge on the Our Creative Corner blog which was to use a pet image. I also went with this image as after I finish with my cross stitching class on Saturday my sister and I are headed to Kansas to pick up my new puppy. When I saw the bonus sketch I knew a puppy would be perfect. I colored my image like my new puppy. Here is the sketch and my creation.

Regal Rose Embrace Life

Today's card is very girly-girl. I wanted a very feminine, pretty card so I set out to design one. I used the sketch from the Card Patterns blog and chose Regal Rose and Pretty in Pink for my colors. I used an aqua painter to color the flowers. For the stamen I used a white gel pen and a Sakura clear gelly roll pen. Here is the sketch and my creation.

Simple Quick Card

I don't know about you but I have a ton of patterned paper I need to use. That was the inspiration for this card. I decided to use the sketch and patterned paper and make the embellishment the sentiment.

Neutral Fresh Cuts

Quick post today as I need to prepare for my class tonight.

The challenge this week on Stampin' B's Design Team blog is to use neutrals. I thought this would be a fun challenge as I never use just neutrals. I chose to use Very Vanilla and Creamy Caramel. I think the card turned out very pretty. What do you think? Here is my creation.

I Love Daisies!

Another late post today. I am extremely busy with teaching my class, trying to adopt a dog, getting ready to go to Tulsa, and posting to the blog. But I it will be over soon. My class ends next week and we leave for Tulsa after my class. I am going to work this weekend on cards so that I have some things for you to look at while I am gone.

Today's card is for the Colour Create Challenge. You were to use the colors Grassy Green, Apple Green, Sunflower Yellow, Lemon, and White. They also gave you this picture as some inspiration.

Even before I saw the picture I thought of daisies. I then remembered this gorgeous vellum I have had for a while and been hoarding. I decided I needed to use some on this card. I also remembered I had a Spellbinders daisy die I hadn't used in a while so I was ready to make my card.

After I had cut and embossed my flowers and leaves I wanted the embossing to pop so I used a sponge dauber to add color (Barely Banana flowers got Summer Sun ink and the Summer Sun flowers got More Mustard ink - Certainly Celery leaves got Garden Green ink and the Garden Green leaves got Handsome Hunter ink). As an added twist you were supposed to decorate the inside of the card and the envelope. I have been decorating the insides of my cards for a while but had not been doing the envelopes. I did decorate my envelope for this challenge and I think I am going to go back to decorating the envelope also. Here is my creation.
