Using More of My Gingham Patterned Paper

I am loving my gingham paper download. I used some on Saturday for my sketch set and when I saw the sketch that Natasha posted at Clean and Simple I knew it would be perfect for their sketch.

Today's card is not your usual invitation size card. It is actually 4 x 7 1/2. This will fit in a business size envelope and still take a regular stamp. It was fun to play with this size for a change.

It is a really simple sketch and took only about 30 minutes to make (only cause it me a while to get the sizes for the panels straight. Here is the sketch and my creation.

Playing with Ribbon

On the Mother's and Daughter's Creations blog they posted they were sponsoring a challenge on the Cafe Mojo Challenges blog. I decided to check it out and saw it was to use ribbon in a non-traditional way. As I was laying in bed the other night watching tv when I wondered if I could use this beautiful sheer ribbon I had gotten from Heidi. to make a butterfly. I wondered how I was going to be able to pull this off when I remembered I had bought some black pipe cleaners for a plastic canvas project I am doing with the residents at New Towne Village. I decided to play with the ribbon and pipe cleaners to see if it would work. Guess what, it did.

The butterfly was fairly easy to make. You just loop your ribbon several times at different lengths and then wrap the pipe cleaner around the middle. Twist your pipe cleaner several times and then leave a small length at the top for the antennae. They are adorable! I chose to use Tempting Turquoise to match the ribbon. The CuttlebugChallengeBlog posted a sketch which I thought would fit my ribbon butterflies perfectly. Here is the sketch and my creation.

My Favorite Colors makes a Beautiful Card

Happy Monday!

I hope everyone had a great weekend. The weather was gorgeous, I hope you got outside some.

Today's card actually fits in 5 different challenges. It didn't start out that way but things just fell together beautifully. I used the sketch from Paper Craft Planet and combined it with my favorite colors which is the challenge for Our Creative Corner. When I began stamping Mellow Moss and Pretty in Pink were the colors I turned to quite frequently. They are just a soft mixture that creates a very pretty card. Once I stamped my image I realized the Mothers and Daughters Blog challenged us to use gemstones. I pulled mine out and added to my image. To make my bottom panel from the sketch, The Creative Belli Blog challenge was to use dry embossing. I pulled out my Stylized Flowers Cuttlebug embossing folder and embossed a white panel then used my chalks to color it. The final challenge included was by Sharon at No Time To Stamp Blog to include some piping (narrow strip of paper to separate 2 other pieces of paper).

A Different Sketch Set For You

Yesterday I mentioned I was playing with an idea for a sketch set. In the past when I did a sketch set I used the same colors but different stamp sets and sketches. I was wondering what it would look like to use the same colors, the same sketch, but different stamp sets. I decided to give it a try.

The Color Throwdown blog posted a challenge to use Barely Banana, Basic Black, and Real Red. I thought it might be fun to use my gingham papers in these colors to create 3 cards. I went looking for a sketch that I could use for all three cards. Amy at Prairie Paper & Ink posted a re-do of an older sketch and since it was an interesting layout I decided to use it (beside I hadn't done one of her sketches for a while). I also pulled my gingham ribbon I got from Heidi at Pink Hedgehog in the same colors to use on the card.

I then went looking for images to use for the cards. I decided to use Stem Silhouettes, Matchbox Messages with Pocket Silhouettes in the center, and Wagon Full of Fun. The sketch had an element in the upper left corner. I decided to use sentiments and punch them out in different shapes to add to the card.

Now after reading all of this I bet you are curious as to what the cards look like. Well here is the sketch and my creations.

A Challenge

Sorry for the late post today. I have had a horrible headache as part of this cold and it has zapped me of my energy not to mention having to deal with the pain.

Candice challenged me to do a card using the sketch at the Eat Sleep Stamp blog. This is a new blog she ran across. The sketch was an easy one compared to ones I have done so I took on the challenge. I picked out my stamp first and sitting on the table was this ribbon that I felt went with it perfectly. I took my colors from the ribbon. Now all I had to do was stamp and color the image and add my element and layers. Here is the sketch and my creation.

Splitcoast Challenges Card

The Splitcoast Stampers Website posts a weekly color and sketch challenge. This week the colors were Basic Gray, Pink Pirouette, and Rose Red. I used these colors and the sketch to create a really elegant card. I used patterned paper from Bella Birds and Raspberry Tart for my Pink Pirouette and Rose Red. I used the Basic Gray as a neutral to layer the other papers (something I have been doing more of lately and I like the look).

I created my rectangle and square panels and applied to card base. Next I stamped my image using Palette Noir Black and using a Rose Red and Garden Green marker I colored it in. To get my pink, I used the pad and squeezed some of the ink on the lid. Then using a dry aqua painter I painted the pink color on where I needed it.

I had some wide ribbon I had gotten from an online share by Jody that matched the Pink Pirouette. Stacey from Twinshappy Blog did a post for several different knots she uses on her cards. I decided to try one of her knots on this card. I like the look it adds to the card. Here is the sketch and my creation.

Colour Create Mojo 83

I saw on the Colour Create Blog that the color challenge this week is Black, White, and Pink. These are 3 of my favorite colors to use for very striking cards. While I was reading my blogs this morning I saw the sketch challenge on the Mojo Monday Blog and knew the 2 would be a good match.

A couple of years ago I bought the Uptown Girl paper from TAC. I pulled out my paper pack and found the perfect paper for my card so I began putting my card together. I had all my stamped elements layered as well as my patterned paper layers and laying on my card when I remembered some ribbon I had gotten as a free grab bag from Heidi at Pink Hedgehog. I was wondering if it matched so I pulled it out and it was a great match so I added it to the strip at the bottom. Once I had the card put together, I felt it needed something so I pulled out my Filigree brads and added on on the ribbon. I was happy with the finished creation. Here is the sketch and my creation.

Colorful Card For You

Today's card is very colorful. I began by stamping the vine frame from Matchbox Messages in Garden Green. I then chose Tempting Turquoise and the flower from Priceless. I needed some colors to go with my turquoise so I consulted my Color Coach and added Cameo Coral. I still needed another color so I paired them with Summer Sun.

After I stamped and cut out the flowers, I thought my Flowers For You designer series paper would go and I liked the look. While putting the card together I remembered some ribbon I got at a visit to the Offray Ribbon Outlet. I pulled it out and it also went so now it was just a matter of layering everything for the card. Here is my creation.

Papercraft Challenges

I wanted to combine 2 challenges today. The Papercraft Planet has a color and sketch challenge each week. I thought it would be fun to combine the 2 of them into one card. The color challenge was to use Perfect Plum, Pale Plum, Garden Green, Night of Navy, and Very Vanilla. Wow the Night of Navy really threw me for a loop, but I decided to treat it like a neutral and use it as an accent color.

The card came together rather quickly after that. Once the card was finished and I was ready to post it I realized I had 2 elements that I left off so I will have to take a little creative liberty in that area. Oh well at least it fits the color challenge. Here is the sketch and my creation.

CPS StampinB's Color Throwdown

I got some new die cuts on Friday from the guy in the big brown truck. I wanted to play with them so I used them on my card.

Card Positioning Systems has a weekly sketch they post. It was an interesting sketch so I thought it would be fun to use one of the die cuts on the card. Stampin' B's challenge this week was to use a die cut. Since I was using the die cut on my sketch it worked out perfect. I chose my colors from the Color Throwdown Challenge for this week. Happy Spring

Hi Ladies! Sorry for the late post. I spent yesterday cutting my grass and trimming bushes. When I was done I was exhausted and not in any shape to stamp. I have been fighting a scratchy throat for the last few days. Not sure if I am coming down with something or it is allergies.

I pulled out some stamps I haven't used recently to play with. I also have been trying to use colors that I haven't used in a while. I decided to begin with Apricot Appeal. I used my Color Coach and came up with Certainly Celery and Bashful Blue to go with it. After that the card went together fairly easily. Here is my creation.

Splitcoast Sketch Color Challenge

Splitcoast has a great color and sketch challenge this week. When I saw the colors, Bordering Blue, Pink Pirouette, So Saffron, and Chocolate Chip (which is optional) I knew the Bella Birds Designer Series paper would use all these colors so I went with it.

The sketch was easy to incorporate the different patterned papers. I also thought the Eastern Blooms stamp set would be perfect for the sketch. Here is the sketch and my creation.

Colour Create Creative Corner Challenges

I didn't get this posted yesterday as I was working on my crosstitch. I took some time last evening to work on a few cards for today.

This card was for 2 challenges. Colour Create has a chocolate, coffee, and cream color challenge. I chose to use Chocolate Chip, Close to Cocoa, and Very Vanilla. I was a little worried what this would look like, but I like the final product.

Our Creative Corner has a sketch challenge this week. I liked the layout and thought it would be a good one to use for the color challenge.

I cut my patterned paper with the 1 3/4" circle punch and cut a scalloped circle with my Nestabilities to fit behind the patterned paper. I stamped my image with Chocolate Chip on Close to Cocoa. I mounted the image panel on a piece of Chocolate Chip that I offset for a different look. I then just needed to layer my pieces and add some embellishments. Here is the sketch and my creation.

Some cute projects for you

Sorry for the late post today but I was with my sister yesterday. She had a doctor's appointment and then we went to a scrapbooking store and some crosstitch stores. I bought some University of Maryland paper as well as some stickers for the college and Italy. I am going to work on making a scrapbook of my daughter's graduation and my trip to Italy. I will post them as I get them done.

For today though I have 2 quick projects for you. The first is a going green project (there was a challenge somewhere but I can't find it now :( ). I received in the mail a magnetic refrigerator calendar from a local realtor. I know we all get them, the kind with the agents picture on it. I thought it would be cute to use it and remake the top. I took a scrap of designer series paper and covered the agents picture. Next I added some paper flowers I had gotten at the $1 spot at Target. I put buttons in the center, added ribbon and I was done. It was super quick and required very minimal supplies. Here is my creation.
