Monthly ATC

This month the challenge was to use black or brown and one other color. I saw a torn paper rose on Julie's blog and wanted to give it a try. I decided to use brown as my main color. The actualy rose is really easy to make using Julie's video. I sprayed my paper with glimmer mist before teaching to give it some sparkle. Here is my ATC.

Sketch Challege from Saturday

Well I am not able to transfer my pictures from my camera to my laptop unless I use a card reader. I will be trying one to see if I like it. I have to play with the downloads as I am not happy with this picture. I will give this a try on the next one. Editted new picture. Problem was not card reader but camera operator error! :)

Camera troubles

I wanted to let you know of some problems that may affect my posting this week. I am staying at a friend's house to take care of his dog. I brought my laptop and was going to plan on posting from it. I went looking for my software and could not find it. I have contacted the company to see if I can download it. I am hoping it will work out so I can show you what I have done. Another ATC Swap

Yes, I am doing another ATC swap.  I am trying a different group again (I currently have 3 groups I am participating in but only one is a monthly group).  I don't know how many of you are familiar with the Stampendous line called Fluffles the Cat.  These stamps are sooooo cute!  I couldn't resist signing up for this swap.  The ATC turned out soooooooo cute!!!!!!!!!!



I also wanted to do the ATC challenge on Verve's blog, so I decided to combine them along with highlighting the 2008 In Colors which will retire in 1 month (did I say that before!).  So you can say I am stamping 3 birds with one project (hahahah, so funny that play on words).  Okay enough with the silliness, here is my ATC.

Ohhh, the sketch on Julee's blog was so much fun this week.  She used rounded corners.  I hadn't used them in a long time and it really made the card stand out.  When I started this card I had wanted to highlight Purely Pomegranate but when I started putting the card together it was just too overpowering for me.  I did still use it some along with Wild Wasabi which are both retiring in about a month.  I also felt it needed some bling so I added some glitter pen on the oval and the flower.  It took me a while to put the card together as the Pomegranate kept throwing me off but I really like the final product.

The card I made today is to go with the VerveDivaChallenge. This was an inspiration challenge and I just had to play along as I was really attracted to the colors in the piece. A Change of Plans

I know today is supposed to be Sketch Saturday but it has been crazy here with my class and I just didn't get to it.  I ran across an inspiration challenge on Jen's blog and it really caught my eye.  Not sure if it was the colors or the geometric design.  I really wanted to play with it and see what I could create.  When I had the card put together it still needed something and "bling" came to mind, so I pulled out my gel pen and had fun.  In real life it is very sparkly.  I really like the looks of this card and it was a great relaxation after spending the day preparing for my class tomorrow.  Here is the imspiration piece and my card.

I love casing other people's cards. They are a great place to start when you just can't think of anything to do. Last night after my workshop I was thinking about what I was going to post today. I knew I wanted to use Julee's sketch this week (can't break my streak!) but I was at a loss of what to do. I had a card from the work shop that I really liked so I thought about using it to create the card for the sketch challenge.

The workshop card began as a starting point. I had created the workshop card using this card from Amy's blog. I adapted her card a little as I had purchased several packages of Heidi Grace prima's from Big Lots (great place for embellishments at a cheap price). As I worked with the card, the tag became the focal point rather than the primas. Here is the card from the workshop.

I bet you are wondering where I am headed with this. Well I used my workshop card and cased myself. Here is Julee's sketch and my version of it.

Color Challenge Monday

As you know the current In Colors will retire in August.  While I am excited to get some new colors I will miss several of the current colors.  I really like the blues, Purely Pomegranate, and Wild Wasabi.  Hate to see them go.  I'm not sure about the new red and new green.  Will know more when I get my preorder on Wednesday.



Candice (who has been missing in action since the beginning of June - love you Candice :) - has had so much going on in her life this summer) and I decided we would use the In Colors in our color challenges the last few weeks as a fond farewell.  Last week I used Groovy Guava, Blue Bayou, and Wild Wasabi.  I had wanted to use the final 3 colors this week but I could not get Soft Sky worked into this card.  I may use it later this week for some other cards.



I chose to use Purely Pomegranate and River Rock.  I have always admired Faith's creations on her blog.  There is something about them that just seems to grab me.  I decided to try and create a card using her style.  Here is what I came up with.

Sketch Saturday

I read Lynda's blog and a new sketch website.  A group of bloggers have gone together and created a new blog where each week they post challenges.  I have not played with their challenges before as they usually have stipulations which I cannot always meet.  This week it was a sketch and I knew I could do that so I decided to give it a try.  I also read about how you can use your markers to create a watercolor effect.  I tried it but did not use watercolor paper so the effect is not as good as it could be.  The card is still cute!  I am not happy with Blogger in Draft today.  It was not cooperating as I was uploading my images so I am sorry for the layout.  Here is the sketch and my card.

Summer Stamp Camp Schedule

Spark your child’s creative thinking. I will be hosting another Summer Stamp Camps at my home for children ages 8 and above. Drink and snack will be provided. Parent’s you may drop off your child and go get some time in for yourself, or if you would like you can stay. The camp is $40 per child.

Monday's Color Challenge was supposed to be the In Colors that are retiring in August.  Since I was behind and had promised the ATC card I decided to use those colors today.  I also combined it with Julee's Mojo Monday sketch.  This week's sketch was so much fun.  If you ever get stuck in designing a card just jump on the internet and check out some of the card sketches you can find.  They really help with the layout which makes the card so much easier to design.



I also decided to use one of the many retiring sets.  There are so many great sets going away.  I am curious to see what they replace them with.  I can't wait until August to see the new catalog.  How about you?  Don't forget if you are interested in our catalog dinner you need to get your registration form and fee to Candice or myself.  You will get a delicious dinner, the new catalog, and make 6 cards with some of the new colors and sets.  Hope to see you there it will lots of fun!

Well yesterday got away from me. I had so much to do and not enough time - you've all had those days right? I promise you a card from my Bug ATC. Well here it is. I love the wiggly eyes even if they are crossed! I used some eyelets as I hadn't used them in a while. I cut a strip of Gable Green and using my scissors made small cuts part of the way down to make my grass.

Worm ATC

I am in a monthly ATC swap and the theme this month we had to use Bold Brights.  I just got some Fun Flock and thought it would be cute to make a fuzzy worm.  While I need to work on getting enough glue down to have the flock stick to it, I think this ATC is really cute.

Daffodil Hedgehog ATC

I love participating in swaps.  You get some great ideas.  Since cards take up a lot of space, I will do ATC (Artistic Trading Cards) swaps as you can put 9 in the trading card protectors and store in a notebook.  While looking on Splitcoast I found a Penny Black ATC swap and decided to try and see what I get back.  Here is the one I made.  I love the Penny Black images (especially the hedgehogs) as they are so cute.

Well today has been one of those days. I blinked and the day is gone. I had so much to do and I am still not done. I still need to make a birthday card, stamp some images I borrowed, and make 2 ATC cards. I guess I need to quite the chit-chat and get on with it.

You know I love doing Julee's sketch each week. Well she has another great layout. I decided to combine it with a contest they are having on Splitcoast in the Verve forum. I also needed one more July 4th card so the contest was perfect since you only had to have 1 star on your card somewhere. I used lots of stars as it is not the 4th without lots of fireworks and stars. So here is the sketch and my card. You can't see it but I traced the fireworks on the background paper with the Spica clear glitter pen.
